There is another thread about his public speaking ability.
For you folks old enough to remember the 1990s, I'll make this comparison.
Wes is far better behind a microphone than Mickey Andrews ever thought about being. Mickey's lack of public persona probably cost him at least a couple of opportunities to be a head coach. He didn't look like a head coach. (Neither does Wes.) He didn't sound like a head coach. (Neither does Wes.)
But from my biased perspective Mickey Andrews was the best DC in the history of college football. FSU was not a top ten team until Mickey arrived. After being there a few years FSU finished in the top 4 in the final polls for 14 straight years. Bobby never would have had the success he had without Mickey. And, Bobby would be the first one to tell you that.
Look at it this way. If Clemson wins 3 national championships in the next 5 years, schools probably won't be beating down the doors to hire Wes because he doesn't "fit the mold." His lack of "head coach persona" may be a blessing to Clemson.

Didn't see it and glad I didn't. Idc if he gets up there, picks his nose, farts, whatever as long as he can coach and bring in the Jimmy and Joes. Even Karen if she can play.
Speaking of which, Eason needs a big fat raise for his recruiting.

Well, that's a little harsh but, if tge boys come back that we're hoping, I might have to agree if he's not top 10 in every defense stat. My goodness, we would be not 2 deep but 3 deep.
Agree with everyone on the thread, MIckey was the best and I think Wes will grow into a good one. Different from calling plays and analyzing them.

Tend to agree. Even if only KJ and Mascol come back, he needs to be top 25. Dabo is a stat guy and it seems I remember him saying when BV came that his expectation was top 25 in total D each year.

Please don't be saying anything about any decision that should be made about the team anywhere close to a Clemson news site, or a Dabo friend where it could get back to him BECAUSE, if he feels that any part of the fan base is making a suggestion to him, he will lose the game before he agrees!!!!

and Junkyard Dawg defenses in late 70's/early 80's. Buck Belue and all UGA players will confirm that. And of course, Erk built the Georgia Southern program from scratch and won multiple championships in a hurry with Tracy Ham and OC Paul Johnson. Erk was one of the top all time DC's and Div I-AA HC's of all time IMHO. Good call.

For somebody that it's been said how good he is with a defensive scheme, he sounds like a 6-grader relaying his message, and he is truly very difficult to listen to, plus he needs a ton of base added to his vocal tone!!!
