I’ll admit that I was OK with the M Lee hire

When it happened. I love Leggett, but I felt like he could never get us over the hump. Monte Lee had great success at our arch rivals crap school, and it felt like a decent hire. We forgot one Yuge thing tho….
He is a coot.
Cut him loose and poach Oregon State’s coach. He’s young, learned under Pat Casey (one of the best college baseball coaches ever) and he’s got Oregon State back in the top 5.

morning drive to work most mornings back then. The Coots REALLY wanted to hire Monte Lee as their own coach back then. They were truly upset when Clemson got him before they could get rid of Chad Holbrook.
Seeing that BOTH Clemson and Carolina baseball programs have now fallen on hard times, not sure what the real answer is. It could be as simple as, the assistants that Monte brought with him when he made the move to "the big leagues" at Clemson just aren't up to the task. I have to think that if Monte keeps his job, the AD or combination of AD/BOT coerces him into making some significant staff changes before next season.

If we fire Monte, they should hire me. I have never coached baseball and only played one year in little league - BUT - I have been to Holiday Inn and I am willing to take real time advice and adjustments from TNET should Neff select me for the position.

Id love to see some West Coast ball.

There has just been so much success there historically. I recall seeing a graphic of the CWS winners overlayed on a US map. This was before Vandy, Coastal, USC and UVA got their titles. It had LSU, Miami and Wake as the only east coast teams to ever win it. And IIRC, the Wake one was from the 50s. I always blamed the draft model of poaching the southern player. I always sort of associate west coast ball with “take what they give you” and I think thats been successful.
I’d love to see a coach that can teach the game. Lets nail down fielding, running the bases, bunting, directional hitting and fending off pitches before we look for the long ball.

I agree! I’ll admit that I’m a little biased towards Oregon State because I married a Beaver alum (haha I can’t say that without laughing but it’s true).
It’s been a fun couple of years around our house with the Beavers winning the Baseball National Championship the same year that our Tigers blew out Alabama for the Football Championship.
Even though I have a soft spot for Oregon State, there is no denying their baseball success. The coach they have now is in his 2nd year, I think, and he is doing great. He is a former player there and a fan favorite so it would be hard to get him away, but Clemson has a lot nicer facilities and a bigger wallet than Oregon State.
