I want to chime in on this whole Gulf of Mexico versus Gulf of America thing
I understand there's some impact on education of children, but other than that who even uses the full name?
I live about 50 miles from the Gulf and have never referred to it as anything other than "the Gulf"
It's not like I'm about to get confused or confuse other people who may think I'm referring to the Gulf of Aden or some shiaaa like that
Is it possible we could try and care about something else?

I have called it the Gulf of Mexico my whole life. Most people do. I have never been around anyone who just called "The Gulf". I don't hangout with people generally that live around it though. People that don't live anywhere near it call it by the full name. In our minds there are a bunch of gulfs and not just one, so we make it clear. If someone just said, "The Gulf" to me growing up I would have first thought Gulf of California, but I would have needed clarification.

Pretty simple. Ever look west at the other "Gulf"? Look what's called and ask, why? The Gulf of CA literally does even touch the border of CA lolz.
Yet the Gulf of America touches as much or more of America than Mexico.
Now I don't give 2 shats about any of this, as I use Hydrologic Units Codes (HUC) to idea watershed daily for my job and would greatly appreciate all water bodies having a similar nomenclature...bc ### politics that's why!!

Just from recall, probably about 50:50 _ maybe a little more to Gulf. Just calling it the Gulf is very common amongst the locals.

I've referred to Gulf gas stations more often in my life than the Gulf of Tex-Mex-Merica.
And all the Gulf stations have been closed around here for decades.

This is the problem the knee jerking reactions to the market. You have either been gambling the market too hard or just want to complain about Trump

Time in the market > timing the market and all that.
Still no one should be satisfied with a purposeful devaluing of the market.

I don't know what that means. How did I make your point?
The markets are double digits down. Sounds like you are investing like someone who is about to retire, and you are happy about them dropping so much.
Of course you are. Had that been the last president, you'd be flipping yourshit.

the full name, "Gulf of Mexico?" Not in your whole life? That's unbelievable.
The reason a bunch of panties got in a wad over this, is because there was no need or justification provided for the name change. It was purely a power play, and an early signal that the administration was going to do stuff on a whim and did not care if anyone was on board.

a Prez with a sense of humor is such a breath of fresh air. If this angers or offends you, well, you were the intended target. Totally harmless, you either get it with a chuckle or you don't.
Hard to believe any Lunger would not find this tremendous. I can see where the brittle-minded that freak out about everything would be triggered on this too.
Admit it, about 90% of you would do this same type stuff if you had the power. And laugh and laugh at the hand-wringers.
Google gets it:

I'm thinking of stupid costs associated doing such a dumb, needless change--books, maps, papers, all that kinda administrative stuff.
Also, I rarely if ever hear it called anything more than "the gulf", so what was the point?
