Losing Adams SUCKS. But he wasn't the biggest need

Our DT stable is very good and deep. Williams, Jarett, Watson, Reader and Watkins all got good playing time and all will be very good players. Adding Pagano to that mix helps immensly.
That being said our biggest needs are still DE and DB. We needed an elite DE and shut down corner in this class. If we get Alexander like it seems that we will then that covers a big issue in a secondary ready to prove they will not be a weakness next year.
We missed out on elite DEs in Daniels and RN but Lawson is still a very good pick up and Ebo looks like a monster already. Add those two to Barnes, Beasly, Crawford, Aiken and Dodd and we will at least have the numbers at DE we just need the older guys to step up. I think Crawford can be that guy and Beasly is always a threat especailly if he added some weight this off season.

Great post. I agree, and still think work ethic is a major factor, regardless of the stars after some player's name. We have ample evidence to show that a player, especially linemen and RBs, can literally reinvent themselves in the weight room. It comes down to character, motivation, and guts. Anyone remember a guy named Pryce who walked on as a 215 lb. tight end, and went on, at 300+, to become our best offensive lineman? Hot Rod McDowell can emerge as a force at running back if he is willing to get in the weight room, gain 15 lbs, and turn himself into a high-speed fireplug. The other guy Zac whatever his name is 6'2" and still playing at his HS weight----about 180. Forget him as any kind of factor as a RB. Other than that, we will be depending on freshmen At RB, and that's not comforting. Dye seems the most likely to make any kind of impact, but we have a huge question mark at that position. How anyone can say we are deep at RB is beyond me.

I have complete faith in DJ Howard and we still have hotrod right?? Brooks put in good time last year too. I'm not too worried about our RB's.

Agreed which is why he's a bigger need then Adams

I'm not 100% sold that Adams would have started from day one with what we already have. he might very well have, but he might not have. There is no question that Alexander is a starter from the moment he signs his LOI

IMPO, we beat what I feel Was the #2 team in the country on any given day in LSU. What we have at Clemson matched up with them for ### for tat. With what we have for sure coming in, with what we have, we are going to be just fine. The top guys can keep going to the already loaded schools if they want to ride the pine for a couple of years, great. Mean while our guys get early and lots of playing time. And that is what makes them better player's at the next level. Anyway, we are still going to be in great shape after tomorrow, IMPO!

I agree. Losing Adams and Lawson, if we have, are big losses. I still contend that you can build linemen, if you have a great S&C program, which I'm not sure we have. With the equipment and nutritional resources we have available, players, who have the motivataion, can literally refigure themselves. That's how Danny won as much as he did with basically 2 or 3 "star" players. Ever hear of Levon Kirkland? Not heavily recruited or that big. But when he saw that weight room, a light bulb went off in his head. Left Clemson playing as a 260 lb. linebacker who could run like a tailback. But, some players don't get it, or don't want to. Give me a 2 or 3 star player who is determined to turn himself into a beast, and I'll beat you most, if not everytime.

Getting an elite corner like him would definitely be a boost to the secondary!
