in the CU days, and they had a blooming onion knock-off.
Lemme tell you, they are a world-class PITA to make. Seriously....you can even be good at them and completely eff one up without even trying hard.
Got to the point where we changed the entry in the POS terminal where if a waiter entered a blooming onion, it showed up as "f###ing onion" on the kitchen ticket.

when they opened the first one in Charlotte, then they learned there was another one somewhere in the US when they decided to franchise, and had to change the name.
Founder is a big Charlotte restaurant guy who pretty much turns any venture he starts into a giant money press. Pro tip----it's not on the menu, but ask for your bun to be steamed white castle style.....takes the burgers from a 9 to a 12.

I have no idea if this is why it stays packed 7 days a week or not, but it does. And it has since the day it opened there. Of course, it IS Rock Hill, where we don't support anything BUT substandard corporate chain restaurant swill to begin with.

if I go out to eat. I know I cannot replicate that meal for less than $100 and 8 to 10 hours of my time. Now that so many people I know have small kids, means wives, or lazy and untrusting husbands. Going out to eat isn't the social event it once was.

was pretty reasonable price- and quality-wise. Haven't had the urge to go to an Outback since moving back east 2.5 years ago, but we decided to go with dad last week. Got the sirloin and unlimited shrimp for $16. I ordered my steak MR, it came out rare. No biggie, I'll eat a rare steak, but Outback used to be pretty ### spot-on with temps. 19She ordered hers M, and it came out straight up blue. WAY rarer than mine. How the shit does that happen? They were perfectly nice about it and made her another one and boxed it up to go, but the kids were being jerks by then so there was no chance of eating at the restaurant. Shrimp were tiny and pretty meh. The whole thing...yeah. Weird. They've gone WAY downhill. I'm guessing I'll NEVER have the urge to go to an Outback again.
