I keep reading that Clemson is currently ranked #4...

in the ACC, but the rankings indicate we are #5. Can someone please alert the ACC headquarters of their error? Once corrected, the folks over at NET will have some refiguring to do.

For reasons I can’t explain, for years I’ve seen some sources put the team with the better overall record ahead. I’ve also seen some sources put the teams in alphabetical order. Some sites do their homework and list them correctly

We currently hold the tie-breaker over Duke, so we are #4 and Duke is #5.

or Clemson would be ahead of Duke. And this is the official ACC site, so you'd think they would be accurate. Are we #4 or #5? Does anyone know?

You have to apply the Durham/Chapel Hill variant when looking at ACC standings. All ACC basketball revolves around Durham/Chapel Hill. Clemson lost to UNC but Duke beat UNC therefore Duke deserves to be ahead of Clemson. You gotta read the fine print in the ACC manual!

We are 4th. This site listed duke ahead because of their overall record most likely. They didn’t do their homework to see we hold the tiebreaker.

Francis Marion®, I appreciate your pointing this issue out with the weird official (?) ACC Standing's listing. First, by all postings (official & otherwise), we are #4 in the ACC Standings--even though Clemson & Duke have an identical ACC win-loss records, we are #4 due to the fact we have the tie-breaker win over Duke.
Even if there was not that tiebreaker (or some other tie-breaker convention that I'm unaware of), we would be no worse than tied for 4th in the ACC Standings. And if that were the case, we should still be listed ahead of Duke because of the "Alphabetical convention" of "C" comes before "D".
However, this is the "ACC", and they always seem to have some weird rhyme or reason for any decision. In any case, authoritative ACC channels should be providing an official explanation about the their official ACC Standings list.
