That the writing was on the wall, other fans just didn’t see it. This is a point of real pride for them. Unfortunately, anyone with any sense knew we wouldn’t stay on top forever after first national championship we won in 81. We knew it again in 16, and again in 18. I also know that if we are fortunate enough to win one again in the future, we will not stay on top forever that time either.
I’m really not sure why it took the rest of you so long to figure this out.

I don’t Think it had anything to do with the common sense idea that you don’t win a natty every year… it was based on seeing the talent drop off and the offense starting to look very bogged down and struggle to move the ball consistently even with Trevor and Travis against good teams. The wr talent was already dropping off big time and we didn’t replace ETN with anywhere near the same talent… TE had a drop off and just could tell we were hiding deficiencies at wr and especially OL with generational talent. And now you see these hires that were questioned big time when they were made and the fact we aren’t recruiting or developing near what we were… we are were on top of college football right there with bama as far as dynasties go and we hired a bunch of guys with no experience… we could have hired the best of the best available for those spots but we tried to build a Clemson coaching tree and it’s been a complete failure… good thing is Dabo is the guy I think can make the changes hopefully to get this thing back on track but a lot has to change.

On top annually is one thing. I agree with you. But 2023 thus far is way below the top. The losing is being driven by a number of things. A $10M+ HC should have answers and at least be prepared to get them. The college football landscape has changed since 2020. Dabo needs to deal with it much better.

Staying “on top” is very different from fielding a competitive team that continues to have the intensity of teams at this level. We can’t win it all every year…I don’t think many, if any, expect that. But if you think what we have this year is just one of those non championship years but still the quality, intensity, excellence in coaching and fundamentals, player development, and in game adjustments that even good teams have that aren’t on the mountaintop, we are watching two different seasons.

My apologies for seeing and saying something was way off that night in Charlotte. But this season is a far cry from “not staying on top.” This crushes all the recruiting advantage the brand had achieved. It’s 2010 again. Dabo running the football side of it vs being “CEO.”

I expected things to cool down but I must admit I didn’t see the wheels falling off. Until last year and the DJ Cade debacle. There was simply no reason to not be alternating those two in and out. In Dabos world of over extreme loyalty it’s one or the other, can’t have both competing like you know, sports and such

This is the same style of gaslighting that Dabo engages in when he says some fans expect no losses. Fans have never expected no losses. Even in 2016 we had a loss. So to say fans expect to stay on top is the same thing. No, fans don't expect to stay on top. What fans expect is high quality football whether that ends as #1, #5 or #15 and to not be lied to our faces on a consistent basis. Is that too much to ask for? Some high quality football and not to be lied to?

Lol in ‘21 it was “we can’t make the playoffs every year.” Or “we’re rebuilding.” Or “we won 10 games.” All true but it was clear we were falling. So say whatever makes you feel better. Or as they say, Say Anything. You’re defending Dabo so I’m good with it. And forgive those of us who think Dabo was saved from 2010 by Chad in 2011 and BV in 2012. But it’s reality and Dabo trying to prove he can do it without that kind of help will render what we see this year. Which is what we saw in 2010. And will see from now until Dabo relents and goes back to the CEO coach role which he is the absolute best in the business at.

yep, you saw it too as did a few others in that thread, but you also got the same old pushback of "Dabo always knows best". Behind unqualified coaches the O-line is probably the single biggest weakness on this team followed closely by our WR corps.

The problem is college football is changing and we will be left behind . We add 0 value to the sec and the big ten doesn’t want us .
