I just read that we are bringing back the fewest combined starts in the ACC.

That was surprising to me. We will be counting on some younger depth to step into prominent roles. We know that they are talented, but still unproven on some level.
It would be ideal to have a couple of easier opponents to open the season to get these guys acclimated, but having Georgia first will surely provide added motivation for our coaches and players.

There is a big difference between starting and playing the majority of snaps, and being a reserve who gets some regular snaps.
I’m not saying that these young guys aren’t ready, but I think it’s worth keeping in mind that we are one of the least experienced defensive units in the ACC.

But we do have a very experienced DL overall if you know the Clemson football Dline. Those stats might make you feel better to use those stats not based on what most us really know, but we have very experienced players on our DL.

And yet, still pre-season ranked as the #9 overall defensive unit and the #1 LB unit in the country. Imagine how good they might be when they get a little more experience.

Dude we have Peter woods and T.J. Parker coming back. They were basically starters all season. Along with R.J dickens. The starts don’t matter so much as the snaps do. We also have Barrett Carter, who started every game, and Wade Woodaz. Where the #### are you getting this info from?

I was able to view the content without a subscription by using the Safari Reader. It does say that, and Pitt is second least. Young talented team is how I’d characterize us.

Ok, thanks, I’ll check it out. I thought Peter Woods had started almost every game last year. Along with TJ getting some starts. Maybe I’m wrong. And what about Tre Williams and Capehart? I guess they weren’t starting either. Still plenty of experience between them.
Definitely worried about DE.

Starting really means nothing when players are rotating in and out. I would be more interested to see plays played than starts.

Yes we had the highest freshman snap count out of any team. That stat is much more important than starts. Starting is one play literally.

Lets take a look, Peyton Page 238 snaps in 2023, Capehart 179, Woods 307, Parker 457, Tre Lamar injured but plenty of snaps under his belt. Rated by most opinions to be a top 10 defense in 2024.
So let's get real we have a good defense, no need for hand wringing.
