I mean, Sheila Jackson Lee was elected. How is that DEI? Did she take a white man's rightful slot?

In medicine, for example, medical schools will accept sub par African American students. Obviously, that does not mean that every African American student is a "DEI hire". Many of these who are struggle significantly to pass boards, etc as you would expect and eventually get "pushed through" after repeating a few times. But, many of these also are willing to go to areas and serve certain communities that your typical headstrong white guy wouldn't want to deal with.

The flip side is the potential substandard care that may be received. But, substandard care could also be received from a genius as well.

read the SCOTUS case and the Harvard piece...

Affirmative Action for college admissions used race as a factor...clearly it's not the only factor for admission.

But logic says if someone claims that they wouldn't have been admitted without affirmative action...what does that really mean?

Effectively, it couldn't/shouldn't mean that they took a spot from another minority, because that minority would have been counted towards the quota. Right? Now...Harvard had revised their policy prior to the SCOTUS ruling to not have actual quotas and the SCOTUS confirmed their system didn't have quotas any more...but doesn't the same principle apply? If they wouldn't have been admitted without AA, then presumably race was their deciding factor that put their applications above others and the other couldn't have been a minority. If you think I'm wrong on that...explain how?

And again...I'm not making the statement from a racist perspective...I'm making it from a systemic perspective on how variables work.

I've never said I don't like AA because blacks take a spot from whites. I would say that race just shouldn't be a factor in admission...not because someone else is "owed" a spot BECAUSE of their race.

2025 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"not the only factor for admission" is the key takeaway there.

Sep 17, 2025, 5:31 PM
Reply

Even using your logic as stated, they wouldn't be taking the spot of a white person because if there's a quota, then white students already have their own quota in the school and are judged within that. And the whole Harvard SCOTUS case was based on the argument that asian-american students were being discriminated against because they should have been, by their judgment, a higher percentage of the students enrolled. In other words, it was from the perspective of asian students' spots being taken away that affirmative action was removed, not whites. Kirk and your arguments are objectively wrong.

My guess on the women's meaning in regards to Affirmative Action is that without the program, they were at a disadvantage due to the racism found within society at every level that prevents them from equality of opportunity. A balancing of the scales, not a tipping of one in their favor.

Their success in college and outside of it clearly points to them having the "brainpower" to be taken seriously, again proving Kirk's argument ridiculous.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

about what Harvard argued in their case.

From Harvard's actual opposition filed with the Supreme Court.

Each year, Harvard receives more than 35,000 applications for its roughly 1,600-seat freshman class.
Pet.App.110. Most applicants have strong test scores and grades; to admit every applicant with a perfect
GPA, Harvard would need to expand its class fourfold and reject all other applicants, regardless of their other academic credentials, talents, or life experiences and perspectives.

Harvard has long devoted significant resources to race-neutral means to improve diversity. It provides one of the most generous financial aid programs in the country, requiring no loans and no contributions or only modest contributions from families earning $150,000
per year or less. Pet.App.113; C.A.J.A.1022:2-1023:8. It has extensive programs to encourage diverse students to apply and matriculate, including an Under graduate Minority Recruitment Program, which recruits African-American, Hispanic, Asian-American,
and other minority applicants.

And yes, from the evidence is have Charlie Kirk was smarter than these 4 women, but that really isn't the main point here.

Sorry. Charlie Kirk wasn't in the same stratosphere of intelligence as those women. All are Ivy League educated; Kirk made it one semester at Harper College before dropping out. Someone can claim affirmative action all they want, but you don't emerge from those universities successful if you aren't capable of slinging the big guns.

He was clever in debates against untrained opponents but he regularly got crushed by Dean Withers and others who were skilled at debate.

Sorry man. It's not even close.

I have the feeling that you haven't heard him speak, in entirety, all that much.

The guy is pretty dang smart and very well educated on the subjects he speaks on. I think you haven't listened to him that much based on your comments about being college educated, as that's one of the key points he speaks on.

And I don't think he "regularly got crushed" by anyone. And I've watched most all of those debates.

Obviously we're in heavy opinion territory here as there no great way to "prove" any of this. But I'm confident that you are wrong...because Class09 agrees with you :)

I do think Kirk was intelligent and well read. His bigoted comments and religious fallacies point to some problems and limits in intelligence, though.

I saw plenty where Kirk was the superior debater, but on an even platform against a similar opponent (again, like Withers), he often got mopped all over the floor.

But to think he's in the same realm as Michelle Obama is pretty ludicrous. You said based on the evidence you've seen that he's smarter than her, and this is where I ask for that evidence. And clips of him debating someone other than her won't count as evidence.

I've stayed out of this thread because I don't really think it matters much any more nitpicking the things Kirk said, but I'll say this: If a person insinuates that an intelligent woman got where she is because of the color of her skin, that's a racist statement. Period. And if that person is willing to go there in any case, he's likely a racist person.

He didn't say they got in because of AA...these 4 black women said they did and he was commenting on that. So we're clear...did you understand that part when you made your comments (honest question)?

I 100% agree that thinking a black person got into or rose to some position just because they're black is racist...and any system that promotes someone BECAUSE of the color of their skin is equally racist.

I'm operating off this quote

Sep 17, 2025, 8:59 AM
Reply

"If I’m dealing with somebody in customer service who’s a moronic Black woman, I wonder is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action? If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us... You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously."

I'll stick with just Obama. First, he's taking her quotes out of context. I know which speech he's referring to. She said in that speech that she was afraid people assumed exactly the kind of things Kirk assumed while she was a student, but then she learned over time that she actually did belong among the Harvard elite.

Now let's pretend Obama said she only got in due to affirmative action. In that case, Kirk would have a point IF he had just stopped there. But the "brain processing power" and "had to go steal a white person's slot" is where he ##### it up. And I won't get into the first sentence about customer service.

So, all in all, that's a racist quote. Full stop.

I'll concede your point on this quote (except for maybe Joy Reid).

"You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously."

See above on discussion on "slot"...which is only valid if they say they wouldn't have gotten in with AA. It not that the slot belonged to a white person (that would be ridiculous).

Not sure why he included Michelle Obama or SJL on his list but when Biden specifically says hes only gonna nominate a black woman to be his VP or for the SC he is making a pretty transparently racist/sexist statement. If anyone on the right ever freely admitted they were only gonna consider white men for a nomination I'd say the same thing.

And the odds are pretty slim that out of every candidate for either position the best, most qualified, most competent option is going to automatically be someone from a group that comprises about 6% of the population. Could it be? Sure, but its mathematically unlikely, which means ultimately you end up with people who are perceived to be DEI hires, especially when they sound like intellectual lightweight once in those roles.

Biden could have avoided this perception by keeping his plans to himself ahead of time but was so desperate for positive media coverage he let everyone know in advance about his racist plans which immediately, and unfairly, undermined confidence in his own selections.

If someone didnt have an issue with the biased and racist decision making process to fill these roles they shouldn't then get upset at people who notice and call out those same biased and racist decisions.

But I do agree that if Kirk had actually said all black women (instead of listing specific ones) that would have been impossible to defend. However he didn't so there you go.

There hasn't been as much random violence on minorities as there was in the first year of Trump's first term. I credit that to the fact that a lot of the perpetrators (Proud Boys AND Oath Keepers) started the year in prison or knew somebody who did.
