I have never been to an ACC game involving Clemson away from

Sep 22, 2022, 1:48 PM

Death Valley. An invitation from a great friend will change that this weekend. MfOjr. is also going. Our excitement and anticipation of making this trip has caused this week to go by so slow as trips to DV seem to do. The game is going to be a dogfight with Wake trying to stay the top dog in the division. It is a must win for both teams. I'll be there and if you see an adult and a little boy who looks about eleven wearing orange, it may be us. The game is supposed to be a "Black out" so we will probably be the only two there in orange. ;) Please drive careful, show some Tiger Class and Go Tigers!!

You won't be alone. Mrs. McWhat and I will be there in orange too. Wake is a nice little stadium. Easier for me to get there than DV. Go Tigers!

in all camo up a tree miles away watching for deer and hogs but will be home to watch on TV. Might get back in the woods after the game - best thing about noon road games.

Had to fight auto-correct several times on that "camo"

MFO..your prolific statement of NEVER attending an ACC

game "away" involving Tigers is almost unfathomable to comprehend from this oldster who saw his 1st conference tangle about 60 years ago..

and drove with my 9 year old Son from G'ville SC to South Bend IN in 1979..and saw Tigers entering stadium on Friday afternoon and Danny invited us to walk in with team to check out that famous stadium and next day we helped defeat the Domers with our yelling & PAW Flag.

Where you been?!

Well, better late than never and glad you & junior got a free ride to what should be a great shoot-out that will demand y'all yell your lungs out, you hear!

Oh, have a hot Krispy or two on me~

Untold how many games we sat together. Pops would go to every home or away game during the 60 and 70's. He wouldn't take us always but it was often. Every stadium (original) açc. Funny how life is that way. Good times. Just wish I could remember them.

It’s been a long time since I went to WF. But the last time I was there

Sep 22, 2022, 2:03 PM

The Tiger ‘played’ his tail as an instrument in the pregame festivities for the WF marching band. Too Funny.

The scoreboard had home and guests. That’s how long it’s been.

Hope you have a great time. Cheer the Tigers to victory!

I remember one particular punt where the wind pushed the ball backwards 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

That Baylor , Singletary was a beast and the Maryland game in Baltimore when Danny got in a little scuffle are tied for coldest games for me .

Based upon my last visit to Truist Field (when I went

Sep 22, 2022, 2:08 PM

it was BB&T Field), 75% of stadium was clad in orange. So, maybe the black-out won't have too much of an effect.

I was at the 2006 WF game with the big 4th qtr comeback with clemsonsuzi. There were some fans in front of us getting ready to leave in the middle of the 3rd and Suzi yelled at them to put their butts back in their seats!! I bet they're glad they stayed to the end!

I hope you have a safe trip and a fabulous time!!

I saw them at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill a couple of times. Those were my only Clemson ACC away games. One of those was the coldest game I've ever been attended. 89, 90? I can't remember. I'll have to look it up.

Wake is an excellent place to start.

Sep 22, 2022, 3:58 PM

Plenty of parking, a generally pleasant fan base and there's really not a bad seat in the house. Come early, wear a sign around your neck that says "First-timer" and you'll be invited to more tailgates and beer than a human can hold.

It's not the Valley -- far from it. But it's a LOT better than going to Carney-Finley!

Carney-Finley is an armpit---made so by its tobacco-stained, gap-toothed occupants. Worst fanbase in the ACC by a longshot. I will never go to that place again.

Wake is a nice little stadium. I've been there and Ga Tech a few times each and NCSU once. The Pack behaved themselves the year we went, but I must say that is the only place I've seen stenciled on the bathroom wall not to try to flush liquor bottles. And that was the LADIES room.

You will have a great time. I have been quite a few times. The parking is easy and the fans are typically very warm and welcoming. I do think it is odd that a Baptist school serves alcohol, but hey, it is great for the fans! Enjoy your time with your son. Creating these memories together are what it's all about. As you grow older, you will cherish these times you had together. Go Tigers!
