Well. Woke up to do old man things and found my car was burglarized

Nothing wakes you up faster than seeing your trunk and car door ajar after my old man bladder got me up. Long story short, I lost my favorite concealed carry Ruger LCP Max. The other things aren’t as consequential. I just pray it isn’t used to harm someone by some crack head or kid who has no business with a firearm.

I usually don’t but went in place that doesn’t allow concealed carry and forgot to take it out. My truck has a gun safe and it wouldn’t have been an issue. I guess I need to get one for the wife’s car too.

Not having stickers or identifiers on your vehicle is a solid deterrent.
As soon as you advertise that you're a gun enthusiast or owner (SIG sticker in window /2nd Amendment etc.) that clues them in that a weapon might be in the home or car.
They actually read and reason to an extent.

Not saying you had identifiers showing , but a lot of those that do become burglary victims such as yourself.

The local law tell me they look for something quick and easy. Guns under your seat or glove box. In the last year I have had side windows knocked out of both pick ups... The crazy thing is I leave nothing in the trucks and also leave the doors unlocked...

Motion sensor lights

My neighbors have been hit several times. If the door is locked they pop the windows. As soon as someone approaches my cars, four floodlights come on. I’ve never been hit.

Three of them are solar so I didn’t have to wire them or anything. Took awhile to get them focused so every dog and cat walking by didn’t set them off but now they only come on when a human or car comes in the driveway.

It’s also nice coming home after dark.

Hope they just try to pawn your gun and they catch them.

one on each corner of the house, with cameras, in addition to a doorbell camera (as do most of my neighbors). Here in Simpleville, the motion sensor lights and cameras are not much of a deterrent. The perps, who work in teams in the wee hours of the morning, are wearing hoodies and masks, and have cars following them (usually stolen cars) so they can make a quick get away if necessary. The best deterrent is common sense (i.e., don't leave anything in your cars, including the garage door openers, and leave the cars unlocked so they don't break the glass).

Well , Schools are out and the wannabe hoodlums sleep all day then make rounds at night. It’s a shame you have to light up your property at night and with security cams.
Naturally remember the days when we went to bed with the windows up, front and back door open and the screen doors not even locked.
This one of the reasons we talk about the good old days.

will find nothing but a couple of turn signal light bulbs, an old flashlight, some freight straps and about 40 cents in the little change holder.

It's up to you, but reporting that pistol stolen is probably a good idea. Cops are sometimes pretty good at recovering stuff like that from the local pawnshops.

On another note, if that pistol's all they took, then they knew it was there to begin with. And if they knew it was there, you probably know them.

Sorry it happened to you. Nothing lower than a petty thieving human.

Being in someone who steals from cars hands now is certainly not the best place for that weapon to be. This is one of the reasons we have kids in mall parking lots with guns like at the mall in Greenville last week. Agreed, hopefully someone completely innocent is not hurt or worse.

Same thing happened to me yesterday morning. Woke up at 3 to leave for work at 4 and wife’s jeep had the doors open and dome lights on. My 9mm was sitting on the front seat. Only thing I can guess is I scared them off when I turned on the flood lights and opened up the garage doors. Nothing worse than a thief.

Hate that for you. Not much lower than a thief. I don’t leave much of anything of value in my truck and I don’t have a garage door clicker in it. I don’t have cameras but my neighbor has one that covers my driveway, truck and front porch. I know you’re not supposed to, but I believe I’d be hard pressed not to shoot someone if I caught them breaking into my truck. No question if they come into the house.

That goes without saying. I have never done it before. I went into restaurant that had no concealed carry allowed so I took it back to the car. I got distracted when I got home and forgot to retrieve it. Mistakes happen. I’ve owned guns for 49 years and never lost one or had one of kids get their hands on one. Just a perfect storm of unfortunate circumstances

In the last couple of months my brothers truck, in a gated condo complex in Greenville, has been broken in twice ...... lost three pistols. Police found on during an arrest on White Horse Road, but the others have not been recovered. I think the only sticker he has on his truck is a Marine Corps emblem on the tag.
