Stark Raving Brad - No end to fairy tales.

Opponent: Pitt. Dec. 4th
My last post apparently triggered more than just a few of the most snarly Brownell Bros.. There were dispersions and denigrations galore, of course, but as always, not a single argument with the facts presented. You can look, if you like – or not.
htttps://www.tigernet.com/clemson-forum/thread/stark-raving-brad---fixing-the-stupid.-dec.-3rd-2313089?tstart=0
But hey, it’s all good – in fact, that’s just the way I like it. The point that no one argues the facts presented simply tells me that I’m on the right side of things.
One of the biggest and most repetitive complaints given is that I am typically being negative to Brad Brownell even as the current team has raced out to a 7-0 start. Certainly, I tip my cap to the team and their accomplishments so far, but please, don’t expect 3-4 weeks of winning basketball to override 13 years of proven, incessant mediocrity.
As if to highlight this, one of the most notable things that the Bros. are not doing in these heady days of 2023 is harkening back to the glory days of our last NCAA team. That’s odd, really, because there are clearly some parallels between the 2020/21 team and this one. Much like now, the 2020/21 team bolted to a 9-1 record, and on the back of an unusually solid OOC schedule rose as high as #11 in the Massey Index. There was even a big win over an undefeated Alabama team that year – a Tide team that would finish the year ranked #5 nationally.
Freshmen Chase Hunter and PJ Hall, and Soph Alex Hemenway all posted meaningful stats for that team. They even split 2 games with current buddy Joe Girard’s then Syracuse squad.
But, unfortunately, the story of 2020/21 doesn’t end well, and maybe that’s one of the reasons I’m not yet overly exercised with any of the newer goings on at Littlejohn. The 2020/21 team followed that 9-1 start with a decidedly unpleasant 7-7 finish, including 1st round bounces from both the ACC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament. That the last two losses came as clear favorites made them all the more distasteful. Indeed, the ACCT loss was to a 10-17 Miami team that the Tigers had already beaten twice before that year.
So, no, as we speak, you’re probably not being regaled with great renditions of the 2020/21 campaign and its heroes. Nor are you watching me do cartwheels.
Instead, what the Brownell Bros. are disposed to do now is play the Politics card in support of the current Coach. In addition to overtly harassing any “hate speech” relative the current team’s performances, that also means just generally spreading half-truths, and more, around like fertilizer in a cow field. Someone really needs to let the Bros. know that the cows are perfectly capable of taking care of that themselves.... especially considering the main cow himself.
One of the more humorous recent takes by one of the Bros. was this little ditty proffered by Judge Keller himself just last night. In the shadow of Cobbox proclaiming accolades for Ian Schieffelin’s 7/10/17 rebound slash, another fan was concerned about Pitt getting 10 Offensive Rebounds during the game. Keller’s insightful retort was as such:
“Pitt took a lot of outside shots, which will lead to long rebounds. It’s a lot easier to get offensive rebounds on those long caroms.”
htttps://www.tigernet.com/clemson-forum/message/re:-pitt-with-about-10-offensive-rebounds-in-second-half.-33992276#33992276
With this we’ve clearly gotten to the point that the Bros. no longer even check themselves anymore before spreading the manure around, and probably wouldn’t know a fact from a pattie anyway.
That’s because it’s not argumentative in any possible way that Clemson took more long jumpers (3-pointers) than Pitt, and by a wide margin too (35% more) - Pitt 23, Clemson 31. One can only presume then that Keller has become so pompous with his backhanded swipes, that he couldn’t care less that a truism got trampled on as the Brownell Bros. herd sashayed to the feeding trough.
That Schieffelin himself got 7 offensive rebounds in his noteworthy 17-board haul, and that Clemson had exactly 1 more Offensive Rebound than Pitt overall, only makes the disregard for honesty and clarity evermore laughable. Judge: do you even hear yourself anymore?
But again, this is only the environment that our current Coach has fostered with his mediocrity. And as result, it certainly appears that literally no lie is too small or too inconsequential or too off-point to tell anymore. It’s sad really.
So yeah, I’m going to do two things as the season progresses, both of which will no doubt provoke continued outcries from the Bros.: I will continue to view Brownell with a longer lens than merely 7 games – or even just this one season; and I’m also simply going to assume the opposite of any propaganda that the Bros. might offer.
Surely, I’ll be closer to the truth then, at that, and you’re most welcome to fact check me.
Welcome to Stark Raving Brad.....

...the top. Try to enjoy the great start and the fact the we do have a very good team this year. That much is clear to me. How will it end up? Nobody knows. But these multi-paragraph screeds are a bit ridiculous given the performance so far. I would think we just lost to Morehead St again reading your posts.

I don't mind these posts. I actually enjoy reading them whether or not I like them or even agree with them- and often I don't. I'm also someone who listens who listens to NPR on a regular basis because I have long ride home from work as it gives me something to combat with.
I do want to add to responded to one your last posts with some facts regarding Chase Hunter.
I sincerely hope you keep these up all season.

putting some effort into the facts. Short of it is that Hunter has improved, and greatly. But that's a general statement. I think my complaint is more specific than that.
I will give you the respect of a better answer... my apologies.

But boy, oh boy...if you would have dropped the Stark Raving Brad series in 21-22 during a 17-16 season and coming off a 16-8 shortened season, boy, oh boy...you might of had some serious traction.
The thing about capitalism is timing. Timing matters. Carpe Diem.
This team is 7 and OH...and the transfers Brad has brought in are straight up ballers. And Brad's timeout management during the away game at Bama was a masterpiece, as was the coaching.
You're a talented writer and I'll read all your post, because I enjoy literature, but why don't you put your talents to good use and try to capitalize on a something like, I don't know, Dabo's unwillingness to adapt to the "modern college football world" and how Clemson is being left behind according to ESECPN and Tigernet trolls.
