Trump gets washed out of the news cycle? I know it won’t happen soon because he will scream “it was rigged” ad nauseam after he gets pasted in the election. But think about 18 months, a year out, when he’s relegated to the back pages of the paper. Won’t that be nice?
This assuming he and the magaphiles don’t Insurrect Part Deux.

The unprincipled, unethical, for-nothing against-everything populism that Trump brought has taken over the machinery of the Republican Party. The “outsider” is the establishment now, and it’s going to either require everyone pretending they weren’t really MAGA and being normal again, or some other external force. Hopefully something as simple as continuing to lose every election will make people wake up and realize that acting like liberals isn’t the best way to be a conservative.

What would have been nicer is f the Senate hadn’t shirked their duty and actually convicted him four years ago. We could have moved on…found a good moderate pub candidate and won easily in November.

He was impeached for ‘incitement of insurrection’. Pretty broad and whether he actually meant to incite am insurrection could be debated I suppose…but he did sit by and do nothing for hours after it started. More than anything else, that should have disqualified him from ever holding office again. I’m convinced at least 2/3 of the Senate also felt this way…but enough were too chicken of the fallout to them personally that they failed to do what was best for the country. Just imagine how much better off we would be today had he been swept away four years ago.

Evidently there are enough people out there who are completely brainwashed and/or ignorant, to the point that they will vote for him in November.
I voted for him twice, and now I'm ashamed of that.
