Our offense is weird. We have the players to be decent,

but I don’t understand why we seemed to keep going away from what i saw as our strengths. Anything lateral was not working, and we kept on making sure it wasn’t working! Screens, outside zone, outside tosses were wasted calls.
Not sure if CK is the limiting factor, but we don’t press it downfield ever. (Did we have any attempts between the hashes greater than 10 yds?). Maybe guys were open and CK didn’t see them.
Our OL blocked well considering the competition, but power runs and shots to the TE were not called enough.
I came away from the game with the feeling that our offensive scheme has no real hope of being successful because we don’t have the horses to run what the coaches want to run, and the coaches cannot adjust the scheme to best fit the players that we do have.

Our offense used to be a threat to other teams. We dictated terms. Now the only people afraid of our offense are Clemson fans. It’s disgraceful.

Clearly WR’s have been playing down and not being developed. This has been an issue the last three years so that falls on Grisham. That continues to be a big problem with our offense for staters.

Cade is not it in my opinion. He should have full control of Riley’s offense by now and show he can move the offense worlds better than he did yesterday. Kid looks kind of scared instead of confident, and confidence is needed at that position.
Randall adds nothing to the stat line game after game. Had high hopes for him but man he has not produced. Injuries may have been to tough to overcome.
Defense looked decent until the 2nd half. Not sure what happened besides fatigue. Offense needs to sustain drives but I did notice we did not cover the back out of the backfield or anything on the backside of the play. No one was there in the 2nd half and that led to some chunk plays.
All this is just my opinion and could be way off base. Watched football for 40 plus years but never coached it so my thoughts are limited at best.

We never stick with the run long enough. Mafah would have fatigued those DL if given more opportunities. Also 2 backs in the backfield unless Cade becomes dependable at being able to be another run threat.

I'm so sick of people saying this. Mafah is slow...our best running option for sure, but he's slow....UGA was selling out vs the run and daring CK to beat them his arm...If we had continued to run it run it we would have been stacking up the 3 and outs...You can't keep running the ball if you're playing from behind.

He is a bruiser that can wear out a defense.
Not sure how old you are but just thinking back to offenses in the 80’s where a team would have a defense with hands on hips because they were exhausted. Had nothing to do with speed. You only need 3-4 yards a play to maintain a drive. Also some backs get better during the game with more reps. Just want to see a physical team impose its will and that starts with the OL and a good running game. Without one we will not win very many games.

The limiting factor is that everything is decent, not great. In the past, the offensive line was just decent, not great. The quarterback and receives were elite, and could take up the slack.

The 0 has no identity. UGA had players running open in space but we had very little of that. That is scheme and play calling.
When we do have guys open and Cade sees them he holds the ball too long and lets coverage close in. Cade is not comfortable at all in the pocket. Not sure how that can be coached.
With Briningstool, Williams, Wesco, Brown, Haynes and Mafah we have enough play makers to be a good offense. The O-line looks improved to me.
We need to see someone else at QB (at least for a few series) and the play calling has to get more creative imo. Clemson is easy to defend. Just look at the tape. Nothing has changed.

Totally agree. This is a coaching/play-calling issue not a talent one. You have to give your guys a chance to make plays. Running QB draws and screens on 3rd & long is the opposite of that. WAYYY too conservative

That no call we got when Randall was thrown the pass was his fault. A good WR goes through the CB to get the ball. Either makes the catch or gets the call. Just one example of what we are missing. M Williams or T go and get that ball. Randall played the man and waited for the football to come to him.
Mentality needs to be, I own that ball and nobody is taking it from me!
