Back before the war- coot girlfriend

While I was a student at Clemson, I had a cousin who lived in Cootlumbia who wanted me to date a girl he worked with. He described her as having the face of a Greek goddess and wasn't wrong by much. We double dated at the football game where Buddy Gore went over 1,000 yards for the season - my 1st game at the Roach . I couldn't celebrate too much since the other 3 with me were coot fans. We dated several times but the one thing this girl said that I will never forget was when a group was talking about Vietnam - she mentioned a guy who she said "used to be good-looking but he was shot in the ankle". I thought at the time that she was very shallow to judge someone like that. That comment really affected my feelings of self-worth for some time after sustaining even more extensive injuries than that guy - I remember a time when I considered asking an athletic girl out & backed out thinking she deserved someone who had no physical limitations. Wonder how that Greek Goddess did later in life.

Girls should be careful talking about a guy's appearance when 95% of their beauty can be removed of with a wet-wipe.

Oh , but I was over it not long after hearing that comment- just wondering how that attitude shaped her life long term

something else(?).
I've read some of your posts and it sounds like you're doing ok, so I wouldn't worry about it. After all, she was a #### fan and they've been stepping on their ####$ for years. You've probably seen her at your local drive-thru and just didn't recognize her.
Thank you for your service my Clemson friend.

That stadium didn't look anything like the roach back then. One side around 1971 or so. I think Buddy graduated in 68. He was a frat brother.

Well, just proves (once again) the old adage: “Beauty is only skin deep. Stupid goes all the way to the core.”
(..... or something like that)
