The POC has proven it has no respect for the ACC.

Unless an ACC team goes undefeated it has zero chance of getting in to the playoffs. They assume that anyone playing the same teams as FSU, those teams won't be able to keep the score close. It's hypothetical and baloney. Somehow a one loss team in a weak Big12 is more deserving than a one loss ACC team (had GT won). It's really sickening.

I agree, the ACC was perceived by the committee, based on their cryptic explanations, as the weakest conference. Something has to give. Please don't tell me that 11 teams are going to bowls as your reasoning that the ACC is a power conference. That's just a stretch, IMO. The ACC needs to somehow improve the image.

They turn a blind eye. We proved it last year in the NC then a clean sweep on rivalry weekend but they still ignore it. Its so obvious now and karma is going to cause the sec to implode.

To add to your point ... there is no way that a 1 loss ACC team would have stayed in the playoff, even if winning the conference championship. I believe that had FSU lost to GT, they nor GT would not be in the final 4 along with the other 1 loss teams.

They would have still had 2 losses, so i don't really understand your point. And to lose and only drop one spot shows they had at least earned some respect after that game. No, if FSU would have lost they wouldn't have been in. Neither would have any of the other 3 had they lost their conference championship game.

GT would have won the conference, but yes a 2 loss team won't make it in. I'm more miffed by the notion that a one loss FSU would most likely be out because a one loss ACC team < the other one loss teams.

championship and closeness of games(at least in committees eyes). it's not the fact they would have had one loss like the others--- any team losing on the final w/e is going to be in big trouble even if it's their 1st loss
say FSU had lost to CU without Winston or lost a first game, handled 90% of everyone else easily, and gotten stronger down the stretch -- they still would have probably edged TCU/Baylor just like OSU did

Keepng a two loss Bama team in was definitely possible...
Dec 8, 2014, 12:46 PM

If you remember, when Miss St lost to Bama, Miss St stayed in the top four, so precedent was set. This could only happen to an SEC team. The way it played out this weekend, with all the one loss teams winning, Bama may have dropped out with a loss, but if OHSt had lost, they would have definitely stayed in. They wouldn't have put two B12 team in and no SEC team.

Precedent? That was Miss St.'s first loss.

There was no precedent for a 2 loss team being in the top 4. If Bama had lost they would have been out, it's very simple.

You don't know that Bama would have been out with 2 losses..

No one will ever know, now. But I still say, if Bama and OhSt both lost, Bama would have only dropped to #4. Do you really think they would have put two B12 teams in the playoff and leave out the SEC? I don't

I don't really agree

You're thinking about situation too abstractly and not thinking enough about how FSU has actually looked the last few weeks. Had FSU blown out every opponent they'd played except for, say, a 1 loss Clemson team that they lost to in OT in the third week of the year, I still think FSU would've been #1. As it is, they've had too many close games against teams that are barely above average for them to have gotten in with 1 loss.
I do think they should be #1, but they've hardly played like a #1 team the last few weeks.

I'mean late getting back to this, cam, but your argument as to why they're not #1 is exactly the problem I have. The lack of respect for, let's use Boston College, gives no credit to the fact that they are a rough team to beat. Instead, FSU just doesn't look good. Forget the fact they overcame and won. It's equivalent to all the coot fans thinking they beat themselves, refusing to give credit where it is due. If Bama barely beat Vandy, no one in the media or the POC would be willing to take them put of first place. Instead, out would be, "Even though they struggled, they found deep within themselves a will to win. That's why they're #1."

The ACC needs to do better in bowl games
Dec 8, 2014, 9:53 PM

We sent the most teams to bowls last year, but collectively we didn't have a winning record. No one denies that the top of the ACC is good. The issue is that there's a huge drop-off between the top 2 or 3 and the rest.

What hurt FSU was the fact that they struggled in every game. It wasn't like it was just a couple games that they struggled in. If last years FSU team were in the POC era they would easily be #1. This years FSU team has not dominated a game all season. There hasn't been one game where you just said "dang.. That's the best team in the country." All that being said I believe FSU has been snubbed a bit and I have found myself pulling for them and I never thought I would do that a few months ago. But an 12-1 FSU or Clemson team in the future that may have lost one conference game early but throttled most of their remaining games would be in good position to get in.
