Is it just me? Am I the only one who has no fear of UGA?

They can sign as many 5* as they want, but I just don't believe Kirby will be able to keep them playing together and as a team. The "savages" will end up ruling the campus and in even more trouble than when Richt was there. Plus I don't think Smart is as smart as Richt when it comes to being a head coach.
Anyone else feel at least somewhat like this?

What's your reasoning. I think it's going to be Georgia vs Alabama for the SEC for the next few years. There's no reason why Kirby can't keep them going. Richt couldn't do it, because he's not a great coach.

I just don't think this one year is a true reflection of Kirby both short term and long term. I think it was a great year, but I don't expect a repeat of this year again, not even next year.
I think he will ultimately lose control of his players, and (IMO) his lack of head coaching "ability" will show up sooner rather than later.
I could see UGA winning the east again, but who the heck else is capable?
I could be wrong, but I just don't think I am on this one. I guess only time will tell.

I want to ask a fair question....we both played Bama recently.....which of our Head Coaches looked to lack the ability to coach? I'll hang up and listen.

half not so much! Kirby can't make half time adjustments?? Bama took it to us the whole game, I'll give them that but they had a month to prepare for us and only a week to prep for the dogs. We did finish VS Bama the previous year though and we followed that up with another trip to the playoffs. Let's wait and see how Kirby and the dogs follow up their first good run at a championship in decades!

The f-ing coots? You had a great season but you were no better than Clemson - you just didn’t have to play Bama in the semi w revenge and a month for Saban to prepare. Don’t forget Smart was also Sabans right hand- he’s going to know more about Saban’s D than anyone. You were a senior laden team. You have a good qb and a good FR class. It may be enough this year to navigate a weak SEC east schedule and get you to ATL but that is probably as far as you go this year. Bama will be waiting for revenge.

Who was the last team (between Clemson and UGA) to beat Alabama? Which team was undefeated against the only team to beat Alabama this year?
And, which coach has CLEARLY proven himself over the course of 9.5 years, and not 1?

No, you are the only one.
Give me a break man. They took Bama to overtime in the Championship game in. The obsessions with UGA here on the forum is borderline manic. Actual UGA rival boards don't even sh*t on them and discuss them as much as this board does.

I haven't seen much UGAy stuff since the early signing day.
So I definitely wouldn't call anyone here "manic."
They also didn't take Bama to overtime, they choked away a lead because they choke, it's in their blood. Hence the posters point about not really having any fear of them.

Didn't they own a 3 score lead in that game at one point ? Great teams don't lose games that big with that kind of lead . If Kirby Smart is such a defensive guru why couldn't he adjust to pass defense against a team that switched to an unfamiliar style with one half to play ? Their running game and that senior laden defense got them a dream season . I expect them to be around 8-4 or 9-3 by December this year , nothing more .

Oh, yeah.
The atmosphere there is already chasing away the good kids, especially when the parents' recruits get a look at how many drugs the players there were openly doing. (Trevor Lawrence's parents were reportedly really turned off when they heard about Nick Eason's party habits, which led Lawrence right to us.) That whole "savages" thing is going to absolutely come full circle because Athens is one giant distraction and one of the harder college towns in America to keep control of your players. Even Mark Richt - who was as good and honest a coach as there is in the country - really struggled with that aspect of Athens.
You can look at Tallahassee as another program where there's zero accountability and the players basically run amok, and what you see there is mostly massive underperformance as well. I strongly suspect UGA will resemble FSU under Jimbo - one really good year with a bunch of disappointing ones - a whole lot more than Saban at Alabama.
Saban runs a disciplined program. Smart...well, isn't. Leave it at that. And UGA is a school a half-step from Out of Control at the best of times anyhow.

I see UGA dropping off as well. Maybe not this year because the SECLeast is so weak. But they lost 31 seniors and a few juniors that were major contributors to last year. I believe they lost 8 of 11 starters on defense and 5 starters on offense. Plus a couple of major backups. They may win the Least this year but no way they are in the playoffs. I see them losing at least 3 games this year. This will be the year that shows what kind of coach they have hired at UGA. Go Tigers

Just look at the history. Even under less than stellar coaching, they've done pretty well against our Tigers. I, for one, think Kirby Smart is going to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. That being said, I like our chances against them anytime they're willing to play us. But to think that's going to be a "cake walk" is more than a bit naive.

I have no fear but I think UGa will be solid. To get where we want to go we are going to have to beat some great teams. Maybe it will be Georgia. Maybe it will be Alabama. Maybe it will be somebody else. The thing that I am happy about is that Clemson has put itself in a position to play against the great teams at the end of the year on a regular basis.

I agree with you. I was glad to see Mark Richt move over to the ACC. It strengthens our conference. Plus , I think MR needed to get away from UGA. I think he has become re-energized. Just look at Miami’s recruiting class.
And I agree with you, I don’t think Kirby Smart can maintain a cohesive staff or keep the players together each year. I see coaches leaving before their 4 year commitment to this recruiting class plays out their careers their and players transferring out because they were misled. And the big thing at UGA has always been player discipline. Mark was really strict but I see KS focusing more on wins less on discipline and building young men of character.
I think his early recruiting success has been due to his connection to Saban and Bama. That will eventually wear off too.
Negative recruiting also catches up with you as well. Eventually the word gets out by former players and recruits. (Don’t believe everything they tell you at UGA.)
Dabo has been the same from his days as TB’s recruiting coordinator and as Clemson’s HC. That kind of consistency is now paying Huge dividends. It also proves you don’t have to recruit the number 1 class to win a NC if you and your staff know how to build boys into good men of character and integrity while teaching them the game of football.
I will take the Dabo every time!

You go it. A cousin by marriage is married to a UGA fan. One Christmas we had a family gathering and they brought there 7 month old son. I started playing with him by putting my Clemson hat on his head then taking it off. He was laughing and smiling but his dad a die hard UGA fan was almost ready to fight me because I kept putting my Clemson hat on his kids head.
What a nut job. It was a hat and the little tyke was having fun. I am sure he was not scared mentally from that experience.
This where some people take Sports a little to serious. But his wife my cousin is a coot fan so I should have not been surprised by their reaction. ??

Fear is a strong word.. but to me it looks like it is setting up for UGA to take over as the power broker in the SEC after Saban retires. Now they only had one elite year since 2012 so they have to show they can do it several years in a row, but with this recruiting class they are well on their way. We will just have to wait and see if they get back to the CFP this year or if they stumble but they seem to have it rolling. Should be fun seeing Clemson and UGA in the CFP against each other some time in the next few years. Hopefully the game isnt on the west coast.. haha

You make a great point. Kirby and his gang are trying to position UGA as the” Big Dawg” ( no pun intended lol ) who rules the SEC once Bama is de-Sabanized. I wonder at what cost. I know Saban has danced with the devil more than once in his career, is KS will to go even further to achieve than Saban all in the name of success??
I really can’t see Dabo going to Bama. He would not be a good fit. His integrity, honesty, character and moral compass would get in the way of some Big $$$$ Bama boosters. Plus, IMO Dabo is continuing to build something special at Clemson. I just don’t see him chasing $$$$ to leave unfinished business at Clemson. Why make what I would consider a lateral move. In fact IMO leaving Clemson for Bama would be taking a step back! There nothing as special as Clemson University.
I believe KS should keep an eye on Clemson just as much as Bama, if not more so because who ever replaces Saban will not be good enough for Bama. They had a great coach in Bill Curry who had success at Bama, but was fired because he had the same qualities as Dabo and he was not a Bama alum.
Although I never attended Clemson my daughter’s experience at Clemson has made me realize just what a special place Tiger Town really is. She is a 2015 grad. I have always had a great love for Clemson but when you have one of your kids become a part of Clemson it changes your entire perspective about the University. I will never understand the feelings Clemson Alumni feel but my daughter and I have shared many great experiences at Clemson.
Once again I want to thank Spud because he played a large role in my daughter’s decision to attend Clemson.
