Hard to break the rules when there aren't any. Kind of joking, kind of not...

My thoughts exactly! And Saban’s too. Saban agrees with Dabo

But he makes his point by just ramming home the issue with his actions and exploits the heck out of the dumb “rules” and/or lack thereof.
The more certain schools take advantage of the situation, the sooner it will come to a head. That is the only thing that will spur change.

Since other schools come to Clemson to how our coaches do things, can we not send people to Texas A&M to see how they are getting away with buying a recruiting class?

It’s fairly simple… step 1. Collect $26,000,000

From boosters.. step 2. Buy recruiting class.
I think the title of the article should say: “Neff disagrees with dabo. Clemson needs to embrace the portal and the NIL”

but I think he could use fewer words to get his point across. I think he will get better with experience.

Neff is spot on and I really like that he’s explaining that they have to compete NOW, in a new “system”, & continue to do the things to get the top recruits to continue to come to Clemson! One question I’d like someone to ask him is: For decades, IPTAY has been one of the top athletic fundraising organizations in the country….can we and are we tapping into those funds for NIL for our athletes? If we are not then I will send a substantial portion of my donations to a NIL organization supporting Clemson players outside of IPTAY.

He is young but he is spot on about what we need to do. I love Dabo, but we are steadily losing ground right now with his apprehension to ‘play ball’.
Btw - Neff has been planning this takeover for awhile.

If not, it's pro football on Saturday and Sunday. There's

The SEC wants to be the only dog in the fight. So, take them

and give them their "own" Natty in football, with a separate playoff system for them, with their top 8 teams making their tourney in football every year. You could eliminate the SEC Championship Game, and just have the winner of the 8 team playoff declared SEC National Champion every year.
Then, the rest of the teams in the country can truly compete on relatively equal footing for the NCAA National Championship in football. NO SEC teams allowed.
Since the Talking Richard Heads always trumpet that the SEC is the greatest, this would allow them to keep that narrative, but also do just service to the REST of college football.
What a wanderful concept.

I love hearing/seeing this quote

"but how we operate is we need to win and compete, and be aggressive, and even if it doesn't feel great or it's new or it's uncomfortable or it's the first time we've done certain things, that's the environment right now"
SPOT ON!

NIL and the Portal come under the category of things change and you either change with them or die. The business world has existed for centuries by adapting and Clemson athletics is a huge business and will adapt as well. The thinking of any fan makes no difference because we cannot change the rules and either we have to play or drop athletics which will not happen.

Hold up---why can't dropping athletics not happen? It

can be an option for me. Clemson isn't obligated, that I'm aware of, to say "alright, fine we're going to find all our biggest donors and set up these 'non-profits (joke)' and pay the big recruits as much as we can out of these donors.
So I would have to respectfully disagree with the assertions that the thinking of any fan makes no difference and that dropping of athletics can't happen.

AD uses phrases like, "try to compete" and " find a way to compete". It's not good, but it's not surprising given the way Clemson has fought the transfer portal and pretended as if NIL wasn't really happening until the last minute. Dabo says Alabama has different issues than Middle Tennessee, while we are acting more like Middle Tennessee than Bama on the two main issues in the room. Say we will compete, not we will try to compete, or try to find a way to compete. I truly feel they believe we can't compete with this format. If that's the case, we won't be able to hold on to Dabo let alone assistants.

I don’t understand why you would be worried about losing Dabo

in that scenario. Neff is committed to NIL being an asset to Clemson, not a hindrance. He also believes we need to embrace the transfer portal.
So if Dabo can’t be successful under such a setup, especially when he has the best facilities and staff that money can buy, it will likely be because he hasn’t embraced NIL and the portal and used them properly - not because it isn’t possible at Clemson. And in that case, he wouldn’t be the best coach for us anymore, would he?
