IPTAY Season Tickets Cancellation?

Feb 15, 2022, 8:18 AM

With the first half of the IPTAY pledge today, I'm considering not renewing season tickets for next year. What's the downside/risk of cancelling if I may want to get back in a few years?

From what I understand, as long as I keep donating at my current level, I'm guaranteed my same seats each year. I currently have upper deck, but really want lower deck for it to be worth it. My understanding is that to upgrade seats, they give any available upgrades to those who requested them in each giving level first, then if there's not enough for everyone in that giving level, they prioritize based on how much was donated in the current year.

If my end goal is to get lower deck tickets, it seems the best plan is to cancel for a few years to save up, then start donating at a higher giving level (currently donate at tiger, I believe when I asked last year it was around McFadden to get lower deck). There doesn't seem to be much incentive/priority given to long time donors (other than the 1 priority point). Am I missing anything?

If you cancel for a year or more, you lose your points

and priority. Consider at least continuing at a level that protects your seats. Your parking may suffer, though.

You should call IPTAY to verify everything you have been

told. It only takes a few moments to do this.

been stuck in TDN O row Q (requires $100)

Ask to move down ever year but told i can't. And when i mean down i mean at least move me into row P or L or A or something.. just closer. Told "no" every year.

Last year there were at least 20 new faces in the 4 rows directly in front of my seats. So i'm already not happy. Then my son gets is rejection letter.

Totally upset with Clemson in general right now.

Your son can always bridge in from Tri-County. I totally get being upset about it though. Look at it this way if he does bridge it saves some cash while he takes his fundamental courses then transfer for 2 years snd gets Clemson degree.

he got bridge... but spending 28k to go to tricounty

is a bit steep.

May as well go to Greenville tech and stay at home. I may even let him go to SCar or CoC.. It is a tough decision i'm still struggling with.

My daughter graduated like #11 at Mauldin which has about 900 students per class. She barley got into Clemson but did and has a 4.0 in Nursing through 3 semesters. Most of the kids in her class who got accepted early are not doing nearly as well.

My son was only like 140 in his class so we kinda new it would be hard. I understand it but i dont have to like it... and i certainly dont have to keep throwing money at Clemson. not that it matters. my boggles are insignificant.

I'm sure Clemson wont miss the tuition and IPTAy certainly wont miss my $1600.

Not sure why that is. I've been able to move up each year. It may have been moving a section over one year, or down 3 rows the next year. But it's happened every time. First couple years it was "move me as close as possible". Now it's basically "move me as close as possible, but keep me on the aisle". I just add that in the comment on the ticket renewal application each year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i do the same

no movement

well.. time they said they could move me right next to the band.

I read on another board that price to get 4 in lower is $20k. Your best bet is to keep donating, but buy seats from someone selling theirs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i dont believe it

4 together in the lower hardly ever come up .. dunno how many data points they could have to establish this

I believe that if you do not buy season tickets, those seats are sold to someone else. They are their seats from that time onward. I don't know if you retain your points, but unless you increase your donation level, your future seat location would likely be worse than you now have.

This may not be very popular but here goes. After graduating we moved pretty far away and I did not renew my IPTAY membership. We did not live close enough to consider going to games for over 30 years. When we moved back we started going to games again and I was fortunate enough to find (on TNet) someone selling 4 of their 8 lower deck tickets. We pay just a little over seat equity+ticket price and it seems to work well for all involved. I looked into joining IPTAY but got the same answer - it was going to require at least McFadden level donations to have any chance at lower level seats. This works for us but we are older and don’t know how many years we will be able to attend games and probably don’t have a lot of time to start at the bottom of the list and work our way up.

Not sure where some of you are getting your information.

We give at the IPTAY level and had seats in the lower bowl last year. I asked for four total seats but asked to have them split into pairs of two. They are close to each other, one row down four seats over.

You do not lose your IPTAY points ever. If you don’t give this year and pick it back up the following year points you had accrued will still be there.

Highly suggest you call IPTAY and discuss your options with them.

Correct in that you do not lose your points. You do lose your seats though and you don't get the chance to get them back unless the person that gets them this year doesn't renew. And aren't getting them back at seat equity donation only.

Re: IPTAY Season Tickets Cancellation?

Feb 15, 2022, 1:19 PM

I'm in a littler bit of a limbo too regarding tickets. I am in the lower bowl and have already contributed to IPTAY to keep my two seats. However, I did not go to a game last year and wound up selling o few of my tickets and either giving away or eating the tickets for the less desirable games (which we had too many of). I am not going to continue to go through that, so I am considering possibly going ahead and buying season tickets and possibly selling them with some sort of reasonable "premium" to help cover some of the IPTAY contribution. It would be a good deal for someone who otherwise is not going to get in the lower bowl even if they contribute as much as I have to.

I had a friend last year that sold his the same way and covered every dollar of his IPTAY contribution. He had something like 30 or 40 yard line seats, so I am sure his IPTAY contribution was hefty.

I took the advice of a few of y'all and gave them a call. I'll keep my priority points if I don't continue this year but won't accrue any new ones.
They said they estimate that McFadden or Fike would be required to get moved to the lower deck (for 2 tickets). I'm thinking I'll just decrease my giving level and see how that goes this year.

Unless you have a #### ton of money to #### away, buy the tix individually.

I was an Iptay supporter for over a decade, gave the U tons of cash, still had garbage parking. Bought lot 4 second-hand for years until the U turned that into a women’s softball field that no one g’s af about. (Being politically correct I guess)

Covid hit and they threatened us with losing our seats if I didn’t let them keep the iptay funds….my 3 seats….that iptay refused to place together…ever.

Yeah…..so as you please but beware, iptay really doesn’t give two sh**s until the money stops pumping. You’ll pay ridiculous prices for the experience.
