I didn't become a Clemson fan until I went there.

Also misread your post.
First play I remember vividly is the botched punt we had against GT in 2004 with 17 second left that let Calvin Johnson catch to the game winner to come back and beat us being down two scores with less than 3 minutes in the game.

I was there when Charlie Bauman took a shot to the throat from Woody Hayes. That's the first one that stands out. I was 9. Saw him 4-5 years later at a Falcons practice. He was pretty cool.

Only Clemson game I ever went to...

I remember Charlie Whitehurst throwing a TD pass and Clemson scoring very easily right off the bat. Then they scored very the rest of the game, too.

'76 or '77, met Steve Fuller in the locker room post game, got autograph, shook hands, and he tussled my hair a bit. What I remember most, his hand seemed to be as big as a friggin' doormat.

in person or on tv?

we were not on tv a lot when I was young.
I was watching the 78 gator bowl when Woody Hayes went Apollo Creed on Charlie Bouman
I would have been 10 at the time.
In person would have been August 1985 (my freshman year) I dont remember the game, but i do remember being on the front row of the hill as the Georgia majorettes walked by and thinking that I LOVE COLLEGE! I had never seen that many pretty women in one place at one time. (I was definition of country comes to town)

I was like 6 years old,and I can remember asking my dad (when we scored to go up by 40 or so) if there was any form of penalty we could commit that would let them tie the game. Even at that point I had begun my pessimistic "look for the flag" routine.

The first Clemson play I remember?

That would be Gork killing tyrannosaurus rex with heavy wooden club to carry large stone into end zone, then dragging woman back to cave. No congressional hearing on cave incident.
