Not sure what set off Obed. But go back to the last posts of those who leave and clues abound.
This is happening a lot lately. Not just in this board. In the workplace too. Problem comes up and more people than ever are fed up and quit. I can think of several high profile examples. The thing with the radio host and Bondi .... Same deal. People saying effit much easier these days.
There's a reason.....

Well you've got to admit arguing with morons who call cops "pigs", who tell other posters they wish they would die, and seem to be the most unhappy unpleasant types of human beings you can imagine becomes a bit of a chore at some point. I mean you probably dont engage with double digit IQ types or children on political issues in real life yet most of this board posts like they are members of either, or possibly both, of those groups.
Especially for somebody like Obed, and others as well, who always seemed to make an honest attempt to engage in thoughtful discourse it had to get pretty tiring dealing with the board trolls and alt accounts all saying the exact same things in unison on every issue. None of the arguments here ever lead anywhere or change anyone's mind so ultimately what's the point of any of it?

Before the internet people argued politics on TV and with megaphone. People argued politics for thousands of years. Before America even existed.
It's nothing new. Politics are argued in healthy democracies. It is important to maintain freedoms and democratic rule. It's when people disengage from the arguing that things get bad.
Were seeing that. It's the "chilling effect" if you read Supreme Court rulings and/or history books.

FatherG was an enormous loss. He was a voice of reason, but manac, although I wish he was here, is no loss as far as content. He has to be the dumbest person thats ever walked this planet. On the other hand, I really don't want him leaving. He had his role. If we all agreed this place would suck.

Manac calmed down a bit in the last few years; you may not have been around when he was at the height of his peak megalomania. His problem was that he was is aw's money, and it makes him emotionally erratic. He incessantly argued that the response to Eric Garner getting choked out on the street was appropriate, and physically threatened members of the board, on top of seemingly taking pleasure in other people's losses and hardships. He ain't a good dude. Finding out now that he was a cop makes sense. I can only imagine him in his day-to-day.

No, don't go eff yourself. You're a good dude. I'm sorry for my tone yesterday. Shouldn't have gotten on here when I was already having a blech kind of day.
I guess my point is the poster I used to be and tried to be is gone because it was just a waste of time. I recall people even mocking HappyCat in the past for his optimism and fun posts. That's the type of people who litter this place. Quozzel stopped making his insightful posts. Tiggity writes great stuff and gets dumb responses as a result.
I guess some stop making the posts and some just stick around and get more bitter. I guess I'm the latter.
Either way, this whole thing has been made a bigger deal than it should have been. Manac and Wilbur should thicken their skin given the amount of abuse they like to deal out.
