I completely blame Dabo.

DJ is not the QB we need.
And Dabo continually defending him is inexcusable.
DJ reminds me of Tajh Boyd

Honestly, I wish he reminded me of Tajh. I'd take Kelly Bryant TODAY.

Tajh had the same athleticism of DJ

except Tajh had some amazing talent around him that made him look better than he actually was.
DJ doesn't have that.

Tajh was only as good as the talent around him. Which DJ doesn't have.

Tahj was also 6-7 one year

And lost to FSU 54-7 and never beat Carolina. For all of Tahj’s success he had some failures and like it’s been stated he had NFL talent all around.
DJ cracks too easily under pressure. When he had no pressure his freshman year he was great. As soon as the pressure was applied in the first game last year he cracked and took all year to get decent. This year the pressure wasn’t on until a top 10 game with Cuse for the ACC and he cracked again. Look at the performance since that game vs. the implications of needing to win. The higher the stakes the worse he has done. Look back at him in HS. He made the state title game two years and lost both times. He’s not a true leader and cannot handle the pressure in the big moments.

Pretty sure that was Kyle Parker starting all but the bowl game of the 6-7 year.

Tajh was a much better passer and runner as well. Tajh still holds the passing TD record in the conference and DJ owns the TD record against UConn.

At least it wasn’t the norm. I cringe every week with the feeble attempts on our QB play.

You could argue him as high as #3
Nov 28, 2022, 8:33 AM
|
|
He's the ACC all time leader in passing TDs and owns a lot of the Clemson passing records. Sure he had some good WRs to throw to, but he also had a sh*tty offensive line in front of him and a much, much worse defense than many other great Clemson QBs have had backing them up.
Comparing him to DJ is just laughable really. They aren't in the same stratosphere. Tajh is closer to Watson and Lawrence than he is to DJ.

With you on 1 & 2 but 3rd statement about TB is way off the mark especially since he threw a beautiful long ball (with receivers who got open,,aka Sammy Watkins).. plus TB helped beat Buckies in Orange Bowl with long TD run and many passing TD's.
Yep, couldn't beat SC though!

You are so dense. Instead of griping, look up all the time Clemson and ACC records and you will find Tahj Boyd's name. Before you speak, know what you are talking about.

Dabo is the blame for ALL the issues plaguing our program.
Nov 28, 2022, 8:21 AM

lack of portal use too many walk-on backfills to our exits to the portal waaaaay too much inexperience in VITAL coaching positions WRs too slow and can't catch or separate (sans Williams) Defense as a whole is terrible relative to the so called "talent" we have QB development WR development playcalling etc....

Don't agree you can make a blanket statement like that.
There's been a lot of good. You can go back to dw4 and Trevor games and find busts, drops and even bad throws etc. But they had the ability to make in each game enough plays to overcome the problem. It's the deeper question that I'm concerned with. How'd we get here.

Dabo hasn't evolved or adapted to the new world of College Football.
he lost his edge and killer instinct..........some may say he got complacent.........I don't think that's it, I believe he's just too stubborn/slow to change or evolve........prime example: He may bring in 4-5 portal guys this year (Maybe), and if he does he is 3 years to late in utilizing it. That's PARTLY the reason we've sputtered the last two years.

Taj was very good against bad teams and had good games against good teams (LSU and Ohio State). He did have much better WR talent than we have now but he did get the ball to them.

Laughable comparison of DJ to TB
Nov 28, 2022, 9:58 AM
|
|
Lazily recycling the excuse that DJ has no talent around him. DJ is slow and immobile, repeatedly doesn’t see open receivers while staring down a covered one, and can’t consistently get them an accurate ball. DJ would have been benched in 2011 for missing open receivers that Tajh hit perfectly in stride.

DJ is the worst QB we have had a Clemson in a long while. Boyd would be an upgrade. It is unfathomable that he wasn’t pulled during the SC game. The criticizing of other players while continuing to defend DJ by our coaches is also insane. There are major issues with our program. Yes, we have won 10 games but mostly because of superior talent and despite of subpar coaching.
