If Clemson beats Virginia, we will be ranked AT LEAST #5 in the BCS Standings with 5 weeks to go in the season!
Do the math, if we move up one spot each week from then on out, we would be #1. We are VERY MUCH ALIVE FOR THE NCG!
CHECK IT
#7 Miami plays #3 FSU one of them will lose. (Hopefully fsu) but either way, Clemson beats Virginia we move up to
#7 in the BCS
#2 Oregon plays #5 Stanford one of them will lose. (hopefully Oregon) Clemson moves up to #6
This week (10) LSU plays Alabama. LSU pulls off the upset would be fantastic.
#8 Baylor plays #10 Oklahoma. Baylor will lose. Clemson moves up to #5 when they play Georgia Tech, exactly like two seasons ago when Clemson was undefeated and playing GT ranked #5, the difference is that this game will be at home......
This is fact. So with 5 weeks remaining lets say things dont change and there are no upsets (there are always upsets in college football) and these are the 4 guys in front of us..... #1bama #2oregon #3fsu #4 ohio state
Someone is going to beat ohio state, I dont know who it is but no way does this team go undefeated two seasons in a row. No. fsu could lose against florida or Miami or both and also fsu has to play the acccg if they make it, so that gives us another chance to jump them if they lose the acccg......
#2 oregon is going to have to play in the pac 12 championship game which gives them another chance to lose as well and alabama has a championship game as well......
Anything is possible.......... If Clemson takes care of business and we win our 4 remaining games (maybe 5) then we still have a chance to be playing for the national championship and worse case scenario, we are playing in the BCS Game right behind the national championship.....that is worst case scenario.... I reiterate!

You're assuming Oklahoma or Stanford would not jump us after quality wins. If the three of us are 1-loss, and they just beat the #5 or the #2 team, our win over UVa will not be all that impressive.

You are overlooking that a sec battle will move the winning team up...but not cause the losing team to fall very far.

LSU beating Bama will most likely cause bama to drop one or two spots and LSU would probably pass us in the BCS rankings due to strength of schedule.

you don't know how this works. Clemson has already marked their territory. This late in the season, a team loses, you win (NO MATTER WHO YOU PLAY) you will move up.

I learned to never expect or predict a MNC appearance until after the regular season. All this talk of a MNC is exactly why some here are dumping on our top ten, 7-1 football team.
Take a look down the BCS polls over 100 teams have been eliminated from a BCS game now. You think any of them would trade places with us?

If florida states loses late in the season clemson will jump them. It happens every yr. That's why they say a early lose isn't a bad thing but a late lose is sort of like doom

A More Realistic View

I am afraid sir, that you are viewing the rest of the season thru rose-colored glasses. There are far too many long shots in your sequence of events to expect them all to come true.
More realistic, in my opinion, is the following:
1) We beat UVa and the Citadel like rented mules.
2) We win by double digits over GaTech and beat the
Dirt Peckers convincingly on their home field.
3) If those things happen, we will wind up 5th or 6th
in the BCS rankings and play in the Orange Bowl if
FSU makes the NCG, and in the Sugar Bowl if they do not.
Still a lot of ifs, but much more doable than your scenerio.

Dude how much crack have you been smoking?
If FSU loses to Miami, they def don't drop below us.
If Oregon loses to Stanford, they won't drop below us.
If Alabama loses to LSU, they won't drop below us.
If Baylor loses to Oklahoma, OU absolutely jumps Clemson.
If we continue playing like we did last week, we will lose at least two more games, not including a bowl game.

Don't forget, Shatley was glad the pressure was off for the bcs after the fsu loss. I certainly wouldn't want him to feel the pressure again.

Miami loses to FSU
Stanford loses to Oregon (YES, if Oregon loses to Stanford, Oregon will drop behind Clemson because at that point, Clemson will be either #6 or 7, I don't care who Oregon gets beat by, I dont care that we are playing Citadel, this late in the season, you LOSE, you are SCREWED. either way clemson moves up.
The ONLY team who wouldnt move behind Clemson with a Loss is Alabama and I NEVER SAID THEY WOULD! Read the post again, before you spit.
and NO..........NO, oklahoma doesn't jump Clemson by beating a #8 over rated Baylor. I know how this works, because I predicted Clemson's ranking every single time these things happen, you.......don't.

Im mean come on guys...really? Have you watched our team play the past few weeks? Hell since we no longer can win the ACC I simply will be happy with a convincing win or any kind of win over the chickens. Lets say by some miracle we got to play in a bowl game against a Bama, Oregon or Ohio State. Would you really like to see us get throttled again on national TV like we did against FSU? Do you realize what that would do for our program? Going to those games is only beneficial when you man up and go toe to toe and im telling you we simply are not yet on those teams level. Fsu showed us that. Try being a bit more realistic. Talk of a NC still is mind boggling.
