Why would The Charleston Post & Courier put our losses

in basketball on the front page of the sports section and our wins buried in the back pages?
Is it just good sports page practice or is there some other reason? Any sports page experts out there?

They continue to do things like this because Clemson fans don't raise he!! with them. There are probably 4 or 5 times as many chickenfans in the Lowcountry as Tiger fans and the P&C caters to their largest audience....just good biz.
What really annoys ME, is that the P&C always looks away (editorially speaking) at the classlessness (and criminality) of so many coaches and players associated with usuck's athletic dept. They've been on the highest level of groupie-dom ever since Spurrier got off the plane in Columbia. And were fairly much the same way when cheatin' Lou Holtz was in charge....of course, anytime something negative about usuck is printed, the hue and cry from chickenfans can be heard for miles

I remember an example of what you are saying when they recently had a former football player assaulted some guy in King Street. The section in the comments were mad with angry coots crying and flapping their beaks about how they mentioned the fact he was as former USuC player when he wasn't really a starter or an impact player. The next article Kow-Towed to them calling him a former college ball player with no mention of him playing at USuC.

Don't see why people from a beautiful part of the state, and with great restaurants, would be attracted to a school in the ugly city of Columbia and it's terrible restaurants.

since people in the Lowcountry diss Columbia hard so much, wouldn't they be pulling for the rival of the school in Columbia, instead of associating themselves with that inbred fan base.

I think they view it as a Columbia vs. Charleston thing. I don't think they even take into consideration that the coots are located in Columbia. With the P & C everything is all about Charleston .

It's the same fan base though . The trailer haven juggernaut knows no boundary , and it's just too far from the lowcountry to Clemson for people of that ilk. They have to have enough gas so that the cooter SCooter can carry maw and paw and the 2 churren they could buy a ticket fer. Also , no guarantees that there wouldn't be a yard sale or two in between ..creating an expenditure deficit.

Who try to brainwash the uneducated trailer pack masses for all things USuC and against all things Clemson?
That would be my guess.

Most of the P&C sports writers are coot and SEC supporters, especially Gene"Sap"Sapakoff and David "I'm a coot"Caraviello.

They keep plastering the same billboard touting the Coots "47 Nationally Ranked Programs " around I-26 in Charleston . It doesn't mention WHAT they are ranked , just that they are ranked. Newsflash , if you have a program it is ranked ...this is a statistical surety . They are so dumb they even fool themselves.

They have a d@ng store on King Street downtown called "Coot Mart " or something other that sells dirtpeckerings en masse . I hear tell that there is a back room peep show featuring a George Rogers and Slurrier dancing to Sandstorm...it's rated X so leave the kiddies at home.

That's been the topic of other articles. We're playing pretty well right now well as we all know. Those losses are what will stop us from going anywhere but the NIT SUPPOSEDLY. I am still pulling for that miracle. Anything can happen.

Win a few more in regular season and 1 or 2 in the tourney and make a deep run in the NIT. That would do this group more good than an early exit from the NCAAs! Practice time and game experience under pressure would be a plus for next year and beyond. This team needs experience to mature as an ACC front-runner. The more games now--the better.
Might even get a home game or two in the NIT.

when they started placing all the USuC articles above the fold with all the color pictures and dropped Clemson off the front page. It seems like the coverage has gone all-cock...
I'll buy a Sunday paper during football season if they have good coverage, but that seems far and few between.
It didn't used to be that way either. I remember getting the paper back in the 90's and it was either even coverage or pro Clemson.
Even when I pick up a Greenville News after a game I notice that they don't cover Clemson like they used to.

You have to first understand that there are very few

professional journalists in the media, despite claims otherwise and despite educational background.
That's evident with the utter bias of hacks calling themselves professional who use all sorts of tricks of the trade, such as placement of articles, use of headlines and latent bias in methods of writing. The "P&C" and "The State" are only shells of their former selves for those reasons and are best used as...fish wrappers.

Those papers are only good to wrap fish in, nothing else. Anything a coot has to say is worthless anyway.

I have been reading the P&C since the 60's. You are correct. It has taken a definite coot turn since the 80's 0r 90's. The sports section is really not worth reading unless you are a coot fan. I don't think Clemson puts enough emphasis on the Charleston area. The coots have moved in and taken over with their false propaganda.
