Virginia State Route 94, known as Ivanhoe Road, is a 28.39 mile state highway that runs from the south end at US 58/US 221 near Galax to the north end at US 52 in Fort Chiswell, going through Fries and Ivanhoe and paralleling the New River for much of its length.
 
The New River flows through the U.S. states of North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. The 360 mile long river is one of the few North American rivers that flow north and is believed to be the second oldest river in the world to the Nile, but this can't be proven. The New River begins in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina near Blowing Rock and ends in south-central West Virginia where it merges with the Gauley River to become the Kanawha River. The New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is a 53 mile section of the river in West Virginia, a very scenic and recreational area popular for rafting, mountain climbing and base jumping from the New River Gorge Bridge. The bridge is a section of U.S. Route 19, 876 feet above the river and 3,030 feet long, the 5th longest single span bridge in the world.
Weird that the 2nd oldest river is called the New River.

I have fished the New River several times. The smallmouth bass fishing is superb!
The whitewater rafting on the New River in WV is huge!

94 - Mal Lawyer Was Featured in 94 Plays from Scrimmage

WR Mal Lawyer (1996-1999) grew up in Charleston around Gamechicken fans. He apparently came close to signing with UGa before making the wise decision to come to Clemson. According to ClemsonTigers.com:
“When the time came for Lawyer to decide on a college, Lawyer was leaning towards a Tiger rival, Georgia. When Georgia fired Ray Goff, Lawyer decided to come to Tigertown.”

According to Sports-Reference.com, Mal Lawyer made 94 plays from scrimmage for Clemson (93 receptions and 1 carry). He also returned punts and kicks:

- 9 Receiving Touchdowns
- 1 Carry for 11 Yards

Lawyer’s favorite play at Clemson apparently came against the Gamechickens when he was a sophomore in 1997. Lawyer discussed the play two years later on ClemsonTigers.com:
“During the final minute of the third quarter against South Carolina in Columbia on November 22, 1997, wide receiver Mal Lawyer sprinted into the Clemson huddle with the play call assistant coach Rick Stockstill had given him just seconds before. With a smile on his face Lawyer said, “Miami.”
As the 25-second play clock was winding down Lawyer took a lot of grief from his teammates and friends in the huddle because Miami was a screenplay designed to go to Lawyer.
“In the huddle everything got quiet and I said Miami. Nealon (Greene), T-Horne (Tony Horne), and Brian (Wofford), looked at me and said “you’re scared.’ What do you mean I am scared,” Lawyer said. “I just told Nealon to throw it low and I would make the catch. I told T-Horne to throw the block and it would be a touchdown.” And it was a 15-yard score for the Moncks Corner, S.C. native. It was his only catch in the 47-21 win over the Gamecocks.

The touchdown meant even more to him because it came against South Carolina.
“I think that play has been the biggest play of my career. It was big because Billy Baker of the High School Sports Report told my father that he was telling the South Carolina coaches, “if you don’t get Mal Lawyer it will be a big mistake. One day he is going to score a touchdown against you if you face him.’ Which I did,” Lawyer stated.”

DB Trayvon Mullen (2016-2018) was a star in every sense of the word at Clemson. As great as he was, he will forever be remembered for a specific in his last Clemson game – in Santa Clara!
At Clemson:
ClemsonTigers.com describes Mullen’s time at Clemson in an article recognizing Clemson’s All Americans:

Cornerback • 2018
Second-team AFCA All-American in 2018 … Second-Team All-ACC … Third-Team All-ACC by Phil Steele … had 37 tackles, four tackles for loss, four pass breakups, two sacks and an interception in 701 snaps over 15 games (14 starts) in 2018 … earned Defensive MVP honors in the national championship game against Alabama, collecting six tackles, a sack, caused fumble and an interception, which he returned 46 yards to set up a Tiger touchdown … one of three Clemson players selected by the Oakland Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft when he was picked in the second round (No. 40 overall).”

The Oakland Raiders selected Trayvon Mullen with the 40th pick (Second Round) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played for the Raiders from 2019-2021. According to Wikipedia, Mullen has progressed through the following NFL journey:
The Las Vegas Raiders traded Mullen to the Arizona Cardinals.
Mullen played for the Cardinals in 2022. He was released in December.
The Dallas Cowboys claimed Mullen off waivers in December 2022. They released him in January 2023.
The Baltimore Ravens claimed Mullen off waivers in January 2023.
