They're sleeping giants
Jun 9, 2016, 2:01 PM
|
|
An excerpt from cockytalk,
"I don't actually think we'll go undefeated, but I am admittedly overly optimistic. Anything short of 9 wins doesn't cut it IMO. I don't care if you won 3 games the year before or not. We've been a sleeping giant for decades and even though the 11 win seasons were amazing, I still sort of feel like we left something on the table in the Spurrier era. An SEC Championship.
People forget that Auburn went from 3-9 to 11-1 in 2013. They were the worst team in the SEC going 0-8. Statistically one of the worst in the country on offense and defense. It is very rare that these type of turnarounds happen but they can happen and that's reason enough to believe."
Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, the coots have been a sleeping giant for DECADES. Some of those years a sledge hammer to the face wouldn't have woken them up.

Wow. Just wow.
That's not the first time I've heard a coot reference the 2013 auburn team, saying they could be like them. The thing they don't realize is that auburn team actually had some talent. The other thing is that auburn team isn't USuCk, a perennial pathetic excuse for a football team that has never and will never do anything of significance in that sport. Their best hope is to one day make it back to an Outback bowl.

I was actually about to agree and note that while Auburn had recruited very well, even when bad, the Gamecocks recruited very poorly...however I just went & checked and they actually landed somewhere between 17-24 in the last 5 years of recruiting. That's actually a pretty darn good recruiting base, if their new coach is very good. The problem for them is I don't think Muschamp is a very good head coach at this time.
I do think they'll improve on last year's debacle, but I don't expect them to pull off an 11-win season, as that guy seems to be suggesting.

They've still recruited well...they're in the late teens to twenties, not forties to fifties. That certainly helps them.
I don't think they have many, if any players, who would start for us but I think that's more of a testament to our team & our recent recruiting than their lack of talent. I guess we'll see.

Time you get down to tasking half the class that is Junior College bound, you've been told no by those with other options.
Slurrier's next to last class ranked about 19th in Feb, by August about 8 of those didn't qualify. What was the ranking of that same class before the first practice ? Not 19th.The next year ,another 3-4 from that same class was no longer around. The bar is lowered so far down there just to get recruits, they're rankings in Feb never continue through to the first day of class.

Yep. Exactly what I was saying. Many of the recruits that
Jun 10, 2016, 7:56 AM

did not get in, were their best recruits. Take them out of the equation, and you are looking at classes in the 30-40 range. A 6-6 record followed by a 3-9 record, followed by an upcoming 6-6,5-7 record with an easy schedule is evidence of that. When Vandy, ECU, and Kentucky are not CERTAIN wins, you have a serious talent issue.

Without a doubt, the most delusional fan base on the planet. For some reason, they believe they are supposed to sit at the table of the elite even though they have won absolutely nothing of great importance. They continue to live in LaLa Land. I believe they invented the participation trophy and would love to get one in the mighty SEC. That is about all they would qualify for.

Cockytalk is the best! I love their recruiting forum. They get a commitment from an unranked 2017 player with no other D1 offers and they are like, "Great pick-up! I'm sure he'll be a high 4 or 5 star guy by next year!" or "I love how Champ is evaluating these guys and getting them on board before the other big dogs notice and come for them.".
Ummm...OK.

They are the Two-Ton Harris of College football.
You know they're going to lose, and you know it will be epic. The only question is how?

Remember George "Two-Ton" Harris well. Did he ever win a match? Saw him when he was teamed with Geroge "Cry Baby" Cannon, another 300 pounder. Watch out for the big splash.

SCar's 3-year run, but couldn't see how their well-touted recruiting classes later on were crumbling away each season with non-qualifiers and transfers, then the past two years of bail-outs on one side and warm bodies on the other to keep the numbers in check.
They have no idea what's in store for them this year. It's gonna be a blast.

they didn't win anything but one division title which led to the largest blowout in an SEC title game. 11 wins is a decent year for anyone but not even close to a 14 win season

Anybody who has lived in S.C. for more than the Steve Spurrier era of USuck football has to laugh at such stupidity! Before the OBC the chickens had a major losing all-time record, one championship and virtually no bowl wins of any significance! The SEC viewed them as an afterthought (sure win) and Clrmson owned them!
Today post Spurrier they are headed in a downward trend in a hurry! "Sleeping " describes the program nicely. Muscrap will have an extremely difficult time in reversing their slide backward, especially against Clemson, UGa., Florida, UT and the SEC. West! Enjoy the memories! The OBC is not coming back to save the day!
Go Tigers!

Not to sound cootish but whoever posted this is a "fan", aren't "fans supposed to hope for good things? Are the Gamecock a going to be bad this year...yeah, probably very bad! Nevertheless, if you support a team, you don'the want to talk only gloom and doom. Allow them something to believe in. Even coots deserve a few crumbs off the floor.

"even the coots deserve a few crumbs off the floor" you say??
Ummm, no, they don't deserve anything. What they do deserve is exactly what happened to them last year, a 3 win season with a loss to the freakin citadel and their coach quitting on them mid year. That couldn't have happened to a better team and fanbase of losers. Hopefully it's just the beginning of years and years of misery.

That's 100% increase in accuracy.
In today's news, Baylon Spector cracked a dummy in half. That dummy would start in Cootland, if it woke up.
Somebody help that dummy!
