Is the one guy who can right this ship. He is the one guy on the team capable of making THE play when it’s needed.

I bet you Klubnik would say the same thing.

Put the weight of carrying this team on HIS shoulders and we will see a better team. Especially if all his teammates will do their part.

Our Tigers can still have a ten win season but Ship will have to be featured. Imo

I just wish he was a little faster. Having more speed would be great to pair up with Mafah.

but no NFL break away speed
and no quick twitch that throws off defense

It wasn't until i started rewatching the 2017 and 2018 seasons that I realized
Tavien Feaster is similar to Will Shipley in many ways

Has a guy that WANTS the ball in pressure situations. Ship is that kind of player. He rarely will let him teammates down.

He can handle the pressure as no one else can. When he got banged up last season the Tigers began to slip!

Riley knows this I’m certain.

Ship is THE man. Not CK. Put the pressure on number one!

I can't unseen Shipley getting tackled from behind at Wake, on the kickoff at FSU, or against South Carolina last year. Feaster has multipe 60+ yard runs in those clips and I think Ships longest is like 54

247 claims he runs a 4.46 and consistent 4.5 which has to be bogus.

That'd be faster than Wayne Gallman, Andre Ellington and Rod McDowell.

But he gets hawked down on every break away run. If he was as fast as advertised, he'd be having 1,500 yard seasons every year because of how often he is able to get to the 2nd and 3rd level.

He needs to quit trying to hurdle people, he's going to get hurt that way, landed on his head in the WF game.

It would help a lot if he would be slightly more patient at the LOS and choose the right running lanes. He also tends to run with his head down, which limits his vision.

as far as natural ability. I WOULD rank him near the top as far as toughness, of any of our past running backs. He does not have that breakaway speed, if he did, we would have several more touchdowns. Also, he tends to just run into the pile instead of making a cut to find daylight in short yardage situations. Our O-line is just not good enough to move that pile when everybody in the stadium knows Shipley is getting the ball, and we need just one yard. If they were, we would be unbeaten right now.

I think Ship is a very good all around back but noticed in the Wake game that a defensive
back would come around the offensive line and tackle him from behind on several occasions for little gain. I think he needs to hit the hole faster.

I posted this a few minutes ago....

This might not be a popular opinion but I think Shipley needs to learn patience both in running the ball as well as his temperament. I love that he has fire and passion for the game but I feel like he always hits the hole the play is designed for too fast and with his head down. If the hole is there at the jump he usually will get 6+ yards but if it's not, which happens more often than not, than he gets stuffed for +/- 1 yard. The former is good but he doesn't seem to get his head up quick enough and then struggles to juke the 2nd and 3rd level players for longer runs on a more consistent basis. The latter puts us behind schedule on downs. Also, I saw where he took the blame for the fumble on the exchange with Klubnik this past week and I wonder if this was also the case in the Duke game. These situations, in my opinion, could all be attributed to not being patient and getting caught up in the moment. Again, I love his fire and it can be a great thing when controlled and focused. But as stated above, this can cause problems on the field as well as friction on the sideline between other players and coaches. Just my $0.02.

Shipley has competitive fire. The will to fight for that extra yard. He encourages his teammates and demands more from them (although he often shows it at the wrong time/situation).

Shipley is a tough runner with decent hands for catching passes but gets his head down to deliver a hit. That often prevents him from seeing the opening for greater yards and gets his pads too far forward making him susceptible to tripping and shoestring tackles. I’ve been posting since his freshman season these flaws need to be corrected to allow him to contribute more for the offense.

The response to my post. It’s refreshing to make a post about the Tigers and not be called names by those who only look for opportunities to bash someone. We all have opinions and none of us are a part of the football team but to share thoughts and opinions with fellow FANS is not a bad thing.

I entered Clemson in 1962 and graduated in 1964 and there has not been a single year that I have missed a game in Death Valley. That is 60 plus years of supporting this program. And I have lived in NC every day since my graduation. A lot of trips to Tigertown but worth every minute of it. Go Tigers

I love his passion but if you try and put all of this on Ship, he will crack and divide the team. He just doesn't have the emotional maturity that a player needs to carry that load the right way and keep it positive for everyone. Wilkins was the kind of personality who could do it because he was very mature for his age.

His speed takes a hit as he is constantly hit and his body wears down. That may sound like a pun or coach speak as some might say, but he is hit on every play he is in and it takes a toll. I agree he needs to be featured but he needs help up front to keep him from getting hit before he gets going!
