The pain of the loss doesn't make it worse to the SC.
The GT loss (neither of them) are bad losses on their face. That's a team that just posted its second winning season in the ACC in the last 25 years, finishing 5th, and would have looked stronger all year if not for Alvarado's foot injury.
The schedule gave them to us twice when they were playing their best ball. They finished 9-3 after an 8-11 start against an underwhelming early season schedule.
The reason they dropped the appeal of their postseason ban is because they now look very strong for next year and an appeal probably would have ended up with the ban being served then.
They only lose Banks--a big loss on defense--and one of their subs is exploring the portal. That's it. Just like us, they also have high expectations for next year. But theirs are more substantive than ours, given our finish this year.
I agree that the loss hurt, because we had played so well before GT went to the 1-3-1 and we couldn't make an open shot. It could cost us a winning season. It had a little effect on our seeding. But on the tally sheet the SC looks at it was 'just' L#15.
