Hypothetical... We go down to FSU undefeated and
Aug 24, 2012, 1:45 PM

we either beat them by 3 on a late field goal or they beat us by 3 on a late field goal... "Game of the Century" if played in the SEC and we both start out ranked in top 5 right?
FSU, or CU goes undefeated the rest of the way and wins the ACCCG. No team in the SEC goes undefeated and Bama or LSU wins the SEC that one loss.
Do we get a rematch of the "Game of the Century" for the MNC? Or, since Bama and/or LSU start out ranked higher and teams like USuCk are ranked when they play LSU they have an inflated SOS, and get the nod?
What's good for the Goose (SEC) is good for the Gander (Rest of us) right?
Hope that makes sense and would love to see something like that happen. The folks at ESPN would be carping themseleves!

Wrong, they had a game of the century a few years back in

the Big 10. Ohio St. vs. Michigan, 1 vs.2, Michigan lost by 3 AT Ohio St. Instead of letting a 10-1 Michigan rematch they let an 11-2 LSU play for it. Only the SEC could get rematch. It makes me sick.

Good call. She meant the year Florida beat Ohio St. That year they were 1 and 2 going into season finale and it was dubbed "Game of the Century"

I would not trade my football program for yours straight up....EVER
Wofford with our 1500 students and our budget that equals 1% of Clemson's, accomplishes more and has been more successful at our level than Clemson.
And we do it with true student athletes, not with players that are at school only to play football.

Ha ha yeah as if we'd ask for that trade. Get off our board and go talk about the southern conference. Or do you even have a board

They do not play hypothetical games. FSU and /or Clemson will not go undefeated the rest of the way. Your forgetting USC(the real USC),the team many have picked to end the dominance of the SEC in the title games. Your forgetting Arkansas,a team many say might just end the dominance of both Bama and LSU in the SEC. USuCk allready has an inflated ego and hasn't even played the first game. There are no Gooses( or Geeses) in the SEC so I won't bother to take a gander at answering your hypothetical scenario. Oh,and to H E double hockey sticks with ESPN.

With a 2-13 record in the BCS, why should the ACC get treated like the SEC?
(Or Big 12, Or Big Ten, or PAC-12...or even Big East)

Nothing...which is why nobody is using SC as a basis for an argument. But the SEC's dominance grants them the benefit of the doubt for a rematch.

They might make four or five in a row then then everybody will figure all this out.
In order to win these four or five their starters will have played so many snaps the'll look like they played 10 or 12 games without a bye week.

the Big XII. Assuming one or the other ends up unbeaten or with 1 loss, they'd play in the NC against whatever team E$ECPN puts up against them. We'd be the 3-headed stepchild watching the party from outside.

I'll ask again
Aug 24, 2012, 4:42 PM
|

Why would a conference that has historically been pitiful in BCS games get the same chance for a regular season rematch as conferences that have been much better and successful in BCS games?

We will not be better than ALA, LSU, or USC this year. I hope better than SCU, Aub. FSU, Ga T. Go Tigers!
