Hypothetical mascot and colors

Let’s assume that you were hired to start an athletics program at a college (say, Random Tech) from scratch. What mascot and color scheme would you choose? And it CAN’T be TIGERS or PURPLE, ORANGE and WHITE.
I always liked Kansas City’s gold and red scheme, so I would go with that, and maybe add in gray (my high school’s colors were gray/gold/red.
For a mascot, I’d probably go with some bird of prey, maybe eagle or hawk. I think in today’s woke world, you would have to stay pretty generic or end up in a PC fight.

Have a cool stylized logo of an Ocelot’s face straight on (think like the Pumas logo from Mexican soccer) and the colors to match their fur colors. Like an old gold (think notre dame gold, not a yellow) and black.

Hypothetically includes no current stigmas attached? I've always like PSU's simple black and white. And Alabama's simple numbers on the jerseys and helmets. I'd probably go simple with the mascot too, like a color, the RED, or the BLUE, or the GREEN.

That being said, I do enjoy the more colorful mascots, like the Stanford Tree or the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs, etc. If forced away from a simple color I'd pick some uniquely local or regional thing, like Aztecs or Utes or Cajuns.

If we're going to be tree huggers, our very own Palmetto is tough and resilient. I guess our hypothetical students should vote on blue & white like the state flag or beige and green like the tree itself.

Also assuming it's to be a school in SC, I'd choose the Carolina wren as a mascot and the colors of that bird are reddish-brown and buff - with black trim.
An unobjectionable choice. A small bird, but quite fierce when defending its territory or food source.

I'm going with my high school mascot, (Abbeville) Panthers.
For colors, I don't want any shade of red (UofSC, UGA, AL, FSU, etc) even though Abbeville is Garnet and Gold. So I'm going with blue and gray.

I would have a pirate themed name and mascot: Pirates, Buccaneers, Raiders, Invaders, Pillagers, Attackers.
It allows you to have cool imagery and props for the stadium, mascot and fans such as a pirate ship, scarves, daggers, eye patches, parrots, etc. Everybody loves to dress up as a pirate!! Women fans could rock the sexy pirate look. Kids love it.
Colors: some variations of black, silver, purple, gold.
