by 8 mediocre guys and a weak 2nd unit isn't going to be enough to have a top defense, especially in the Pac 12. They were 31st in the country in yards per play, which is probably a better metric since it is independent of tempo. Still not elite though.

That is an excellent question. I don't like to jump the gun on things but I just don't think that coaching staff is going to get it done. If you have Kaya, Duke J., stud OL and more how do you lose to a bad sc team? Spurrier's play calling can make up for some things but I just don't get why Miami is not a more consistent football team.
