How do you think GOP Congressmen who push The Big Lie

Jun 7, 2021, 9:13 AM

Yet know it's a lie make it through the day? I mean, we know there are gullible, weak-minded people in the public who believe the election was stolen, but the GOP Congressmen who push it know it wasn't and are using it to win cheap public support.

Of course, I look closely at this case of Elise Stefanik. In this article, those who knew her in the past described her as a woman of integrity.

I can't fathom what it must take in someone's mind to eschew that integrity and latch on to such a dangerous conspiracy--knowing it is false--just to secure power.

Dems in 2016: Russians stole the election.
Dems in 2020: No one can steal our elections.

GOP in 2016: Can't really find any fraud. Just a handful of votes.
GOP in 2020: The election was stolen, rampant fraud.

Yep. It's crazy. It's wild how the democrats have completely white washed the fact that 4 years ago, they were all saying the election was stolen by trump and Russia. Now if you say anything about election integrity, you are a whacko loon.

Not only that, prominent democrats were talking about how the voting machines could be easily hacked and weren't secure. 4 years later and there is no possible way the election could be rigged. Term limits need to instated. Every politician is an insane hypocrite.

I’m not certain claiming that Russians used social media and voter profiles to push disinformation is the same thing as claiming your opponent stole the election and that it was fraudulent. I’m not sure this an equivalent “both-sides” type situation.

It would do the GOP well for everyone to stop pretending that the election was stolen and instead figure out how to win back moderates and suburbs.

Instead they're going the opposite way, and doubling down on "more Trump."

Which is problematic, since apparently internal GOP polling showed that Trump's popularity has slipped to about 32% (down from 43% in the 2020 election) after that January 6th monkeyshines, and he was about 15 points underwater in key swing-state demos that they were going to have to have to re-take the House.

Liz Cheney found out about that - she wasn't supposed to, since Kevin McCarthy tried to hide it from her and the bulk of the House GOP members, but, well, she's Liz Cheney, and Washington bluebloods find out stuff - and apparently she went kind of sh!t-faced. Hence her full No Mo' Trump meltdown and break with McCarthy, since she thinks that way is full suicide for the GOP and sooner or later they're all going to have to come back to her with hat in hand.

I guess we'll find out if she's made the right calculation, and Trumpism has an expiration date that's coming, and Very Soon. She definitely has more balls then the rest of the GOP leadership put together, right now.

Trump in 2016: “I didn’t actually lose the popular vote by 4 million. It was millions of illegal voters that voted for Hillary, but I actually won.”

Then followed months and months of “investigations” and conspiracy theories. The sad fat traitor never changed his tune and now his followers are having their minds bottled. And he’s too cheap to pay for real corks so they have to settle for those rubber things.

Your echo chambers are telling you all this BS, but it is meaningless because your side has complete nut cases like Aruna Khilanani talking about wanting to shoot white people in the head with a revolver as an invited speaker at Yale.

You guys have outdone yourselves and ever day that passes, with BS like this coming to the forefront, pushes another 10,000 moderates to vote red. And, it's not a fringe element - a speaker at Yale for God's sake. Moderates and independents are not in your echo chamber still trying to recover from TDS - they have no idea what you are talking about and are not bowing down to Trump like you people bow down to AOC and BLM.

Jun 7, 2021, 2:39 PM

People didn't really (not most people, anyway) say Russia hacked or rigged the election. They just said they interfered and tried to sway public opinion. That was the factual narrative. Y'all (Trumpie camp) took the extremist straw man accusation to make those people look silly. And failed at it.

After 2020, y'all were literally saying the Dems rigged the election through voter fraud.

Re: Here's the problem

Jun 7, 2021, 3:07 PM

Well, they did hack the DNC servers, steal a bunch of E-mails, and dump those to WikiLeaks via Roger Stone. For which he went to jail. And then got pardoned. By Trump. Rather than give Trump up.

But there was of course, no Russian collusion.

Except that there was. Because the Treasury Department, of all departments, turned up confirmation just in April (!) that Paul Manafort was indeed passing internal polling data to Constanine Kilimnik...who was considered an actor of Russian intelligence. For which Manafort was also commuted. By Trump.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2021/04/17/treasury-department-links-paul-manafort-kilimnik-russian-intel/7267902002/

(Where the eff was this memo during Mueller's report, or Trump's first impeachment? And crickets chirp. Wilbur Ross, you @@%#%#...nevermind. Or maybe it was Bill Barr at Justice who stepped on it and stuffed it under the rug. Who knows now. Whatever. That report didn't surface until literally April, and then it came out real quiet-like with no explanation, like it was no biggie. But it was just the literal smoking gun. Oh, hey.)

But hey, way too late now. That was the original Mueller Investigation. Way too late for a do-over on that one; I'd say Trump thoroughly beat that rap.

Nothing in that document said that Trump colluded. Nor does it say that Manafort knew that the guy was a Russian spy. The article says he was an employee of Manaforts. As usual, a bunch of “it was unclear” and “may have” in this article.

Look, I’m not saying I’m an expert in international espionage, but I DID watch The Americans...sooooo, yeah...I know my stuff. Spys will take whatever they can get. They deal in intel and if that’s what was offered they take it. Why aren’t we being told what this guy was employed to do? It’s polling data during an election. I’m sure that information is widely reviewed.

Anyway, no, this isn’t it. Sorry.

Sorry, yes. Fine distinction. His campaign was colluding. He himself wasn't proven to be involved, yet. Manafort didn't roll on him...since Trump was kind enough to commute Manfort's sentence for money laundering, and all.

Gotta love that pardon power. Not a hint of corruption or self-dealing in that, no sirree Bob.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, the evidence does not lead me to that conclusion.

Jun 7, 2021, 8:49 PM [ in reply to You're right. ]

Undoubtedly it deserves further scrutiny. But all this finding indicates is that there was a Russian spy that apparently infiltrated the Trump campaign. The idea that Trump knew, or that the spy's intent was to lean the election in the direction of Trump as part of Russia's master plan, is in no way proven here (based on what Q provided).

I get that you guys think Trump colluded with Russia in an attempt to win the election. I get why you think that. I'm not saying it didn't happen. But I'm not playing this game. "C'mon...Russian spy...given documents...I think we can all connect these dots." No, not really. Or, by the same rationale, what should the punishment be for Biden using his position as VP, and access thereof, to enrich both himself and his son? I don't have absolute proof buuuuut...c'mon.

Yes, and that's the crux. The evidence or proof hasn't been established, thus we have to go with the final findings of the investigation.

I get that you guys think Trump colluded with Russia in an attempt to win the election. I get why you think that. I'm not saying it didn't happen.

And that's where I am. I can't say it DID happen. It's suspicious, but the investigation played out and found him not guilty. I always said I would accept that and I have. Many here forget that.

Are you freaking kidding me?

Manafort was money laundering for the Russian oligarchs, and you're telling me he didn't know who Kilimnik was?

The dude was a power broker who moved pieces around, that's how he got to be where he was. The second he took over the Trump Campaign, people were in open-mouthed awe of his phone skills. He was Leonardo de Caprio cool. The dude had everybody on speed dial, and he'd been in Ukraine and Russia moving pieces around with all the hard movers and shakers. He wasn't just a player. He was the Player.

Manafort, whatever else you could say about him, knew how to play the game. He just got caught with his own hand way deep in the cookie jar, laundering far too much dirty oligarch money to conceal.

Sorry, man, I thought you knew all this.

Why do you think he was such a good fit for the Trump campaign, by the way? They were answering to the same people.

Manafort, though, he's got a history, and it's pretty epic. You should read up. Then you wouldn't doubt what he'd been doing, and for whom. Or what he knew.

We have such poor leadership in the US.

Jun 7, 2021, 1:56 PM

It really is bipartisan and non-political. Just bad people, top to bottom, left to right. Not the kind of leadership the greatest nation on Earth deserves. There is no substance to politicians today. It's a steady stream of invented issues, then feigned sanctimony, or attacks, about stuff that doesn't make a #### bit of difference. Conservatives wring their hands about transgender this, and gay rights that, and dems rail on global warming and class envy. It's one big high school soap opera. Our last President talked to us like we were 5th graders.

Used to be you could at least count on republicans to be rational, even if that's unsexy and not winning. Today, pfft. The lunatics run the asylum. I didn't even follow the Liz Cheney stuff, or whoever this woman is. I could care less.

It's like you have two sides at war, fighting, and you know the place will still go go crap no matter who wins. Like the bloods and crips fighting in LA over control of a neighborhood. No matter who wins the gang war, the neighborhood loses.

Jun 7, 2021, 2:53 PM

point the finger at the Democrats and their "It's not the nature of the evidence but the seriousness of the allegation" approach to smear campaigns...but here, the seriousness of the allegation is, to me, damning to those continuing to push the point. In other words, if you believe this so much that you are still talking about it in June (and I didn't click the link so I don't know about this particular woman), then surely you have something concrete...and if you do, you owe it to everyone, Republican, Democrat or otherwise, to show that evidence. And if you think you have provided that evidence and no one is listening, you are a terrible communicator and persuader and should seriously consider a new line of work. But I doubt many of them think that an ironclad case has been made, so it's really just theater, which is absolutely unforgivable (but proves that they are in the perfect line of work, sadly).

Again, I have no problem with lawmakers saying, effectively, "Look, I certainly acknowledge Joe Biden as the President of the United States, but there is just too much smoke around some of these inconsistencies and none of us can afford to turn this into a purely partisan issue." Investigate, research, sue. Whatever. Keep everything transparent and always improve the security of our elections. But this one is done and it does no service to the country to continue to harp on it. Even if they were 100% true, they would never, ever be able to effectively make the case to the American people and the American people, in total, would never accept any altering of the election.

Firstly, I'm not defending any Dems nor am I a Dem. At the rate you're going, it appears I'm more conservative than you and willing to put actual money on it with a comparison of ideology. Don't be one of the many I've challenged here to list my ideological beliefs to prove I'm a liberal and then run away with their tails tucked.

I'm not sure how to proceed if you're not willing to read the article.

I don't have to provide proof for anything. Those pushing the Big Lie do. They are making the claim, and yet, can't produce any substantial evidence. When a politician continues to push a narrative and can't back it up, and it's a narrative blindly believed by a mass of idiots, the motive is clear.

Simply put, Liz Cheney was removed from power because she stood up against a false narrative. A woman hungry for power who used to have integrity took her place because she now thinks she knows how to ascend.

Heck, as soon as they started pushing the mail in system harder “because of covid” I told my wife the cheat is on, here we go. They stole the election. There I said it. In your gut you know it happened.

I told my wife the cheat is on, here we go.

Of course you did because Dear Leader told you it would. Sorry if I fail to mince my words here, but anyone who thinks the election was stolen is a nut.

Period.

I actually said that before “dear leader” said that. I have the ability to use common sense. We will soon find out after the audits are complete. I respectfully ask you to refrain from calling me a nut until those are complete. If the audits show zero cheating then call me a nut.

Where they let Jan. 6 nutties help conduct them?

Right.

But sure. I'll refrain. I assume if the audits still do not find any issues, you'll publicly say it wasn't stolen?

If the audits find nothing I will gladly say the election was legit.

You’re in luck, they already did three.

Jun 8, 2021, 11:05 AM

The first was an automatic hand recount that the state does every time the election is within a few percentage points. The second two, done by two outside firms both certified by US election integrity agencies, did extensive audits of votes, mail in ballots, voting machines, etc, at the behest of Maricopa County’s Republican legislators.

https://www.maricopa.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=2119

None have found any fraud or malfeasance.

Unless of course you mean the CyberNinjas “audit” where they are putting envelopes under UV lights to look for creases and checking for trace levels of bamboo to prove they came from China (LOL!) using a technology invented by a History Channel treasure hunter who claimed the ark of the covenant is in Nova Scotia brought there by submarining Romans. The CyberNinjas CEO and founder has made public statements that the election was stolen, retweeted all of the Lin Wood W stuff, and has publicly associated with Ron Watkins, the guy who many speculate literally wrote all the Q posts.

I’m sure their results will be the trustworthy ones, not the multiple prior independent non-biased audits. This one will get to the bottom of it.

In other words, regardless of anything that may arise from this latest "audit" charade you will hold firm to your desperate belief, along with tens of millions of other duped sore losers, that the election was not legit. Period. Why anyone would expect folks like yourself to ever come around to that reality is nuts, at least while the spell from the charismatic fraudster is still in place. If there remains only one dust speck of doubt - that will be enough to protect the fragile grasp on the alternate reality you and others are clinging to.

Re: You’re in luck, they already did three.

Jun 8, 2021, 12:29 PM

You will never accept the results publicly. Period. Would love to be wrong, but you and your ilk will cling to a speck of dust doubt rather than admit to the reality at hand. That doesn't conflict with what you are saying, it's simply acknowledging that there exists NO condition upon which you will not cling to the lie. Merely referring to this latest charade in Arizona as an actual "audit" has already laid that foundation.

Re: It's because you won't answer the question.

Jun 8, 2021, 2:40 PM

Because I want to wait to see how the audits come out. It’s entirely possible cheating was selective. I’ve never said every district in every state cheated. I’m just taking a wait and see approach. That is not dodging your question. It’s a reasonable answer.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's a simple question, really.

Jun 8, 2021, 2:45 PM

You said the election was stolen because of your anecdotal evidence with your sister-in-law.

Does this mean you also think the Pubs who won stole the election? Just a simple yes or no.

Jun 8, 2021, 2:48 PM

I said my sister in law received 5 ballots. I didn’t say it was stolen because of her 5 ballots. I’ve never talked to a Republican who received more than one. Was this wide spread ? Other people have reported similar stories. Again, we will wait and see what happens.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

By the way, my sister in law mailed in one ballot and it was for Trump.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Jun 8, 2021, 2:57 PM

You absolutely said the election was stolen. Exact quote from you in this thread: "I told my wife the cheat is on, here we go. They stole the election."

Okay, does this mean the GOP Congressmen who won also cheated and stole the election? Same ballots, same election, same system.

Re: Why can't you answer this?

Jun 8, 2021, 3:04 PM

Yes I said the election was stolen. I did not say because of my sister in laws 5 ballots. My point is that her story matches stories of others. It’s enough to raise my eye brows and make me ask questions. To try to answer your question again , cheating can be selective. I understand we all voted on the same ballots. Can cheating , counting, computer programs be selective? I think so. We will wait and see what comes of it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think we all know your story about 5 ballots is false

Jun 9, 2021, 7:29 AM

I’m willing to accept that you might not know the difference between a ballot application and a ballot, however.
