How can the Number 1 team in the nation not have

a reliable punter? There are guys in the student body who punted decently in HS. Can't our coaches find one? Recruit one?

Didn't the Syracuse guy have like a 60 or 70 yard punt at one punt in the game?

i guess everyone forgets that we had a pretty #### good punter that decided to leave early that wasnt expected. plus it aint very often we are in a position to kick 60 yard punts. andy does fine. he is not great but he does just fine. maybe you goobers would be more happy if the o sucked and we had a guy that could kick it 60 10 times a game.

Well - I guess #### just froze over. I find myself agreeing with DER.
We simply do NOT need that great of a punter. Our focus on talent is spot on IMO.

....What? Now we don't have a good punter? When the helll

Did this happen? Either 2 of you don't understand what the punter is supposed to do or someone has taken our spot at number 1 and I've been in a coma. We're more than alright at punter lol I've seen 1 punt that was not good this year but apart from that the punting position has been forgotten which is a great thing for a punter. We have been spoiled as Clemson fans to have some incredible punters come through recently. Just because the guy isn't booming 70 yarders with 10 second hang time doesn't mean we have an issue at punter.

Had my support then you mentioned a 10 second hang time. Now I'm just thinking how sweet would that be? Go Tigers!!

We rank 116 out of 128 in average yards per punt. It hasn't hurt us yet and hopefully it won't, but that's definitely one of our weak points.

How dare us not have a top punter. We are ranked 74th in punting for goodness sakes.
Alabama is ranked 81st. How dare them not having a great punter.

We need to do what Danny Ford did...

and have tryouts for punter. Danny found a baseball player in Bill Spiers to punt and that turned out pretty good for him. Either that or give our backup punter Hunter Renfrow a chance.

When you punt from the 50 most of the time, you're not going for distance....

Thats a good point, I was just about to say that. Also notice one more stat no one wants to mention......ZERO touchbacks. Id love to know the starting field position of drives for our opponents. How many punts inside the 20 or inside the 10. Some people just love looking for weaknesses in our team.

Our punter is just fine

He has rarely put us in bad positions. When he needs to boom a punt, he usually does. If his YPP is low, that's because he's punting on a short field most of the time and has to avoid touchbacks.

With all the talent we got on offense we shouldn't ever have to punt.
