Update on MrsAdidas and the rooster
Sep 18, 2017, 11:56 AM
|
|
1. Two weeks ago, wife is attached by rooster, and suspects that there is part of the spur stuck in her leg. 2. A surgeon looks at it, says that there is no "foreign bodies" in her leg, cleans it, and sends us home. 3. Wife's leg continues to be swollen and hurt for the next week. 4. Last week, wife tells the surgeon that it still hurts like helll at the follow up visit and that she still thinks there is something embedded in her leg. Surgeon tells her she's good to go. 5. Wife is so convinced that there is something in her leg, that she takes it upon herself to re-open the wound with a knife and fish out the spur pieces with some tweezers. 6. Wife and I will have to pay this surgeon who clearly only half-asssed this job.
If I asked Tire Kingdom to patch a leaking tire that I though had a nail in it, and they left the nail in the tire, I wouldn't pay. Is this so different?
p.s. wife didn't appreciate being compared to a truck tire, but to me, the analogy is solid.

A better question is:
How many "free" eggs will it take to break even after I get the medical bills?

I always say that I'll sue the shiit out of the next person who wrongs me, but every time something comes up, I say "meh, that'll take too much work".
I'll just make a voo-doo doll of him and stab it with the rooster spur every night.

my question as someone familiar with roosters and spurs.....

where did the "pieces" of the spur that broke off in her leg come from? The spur is a smooth, solid piece of keratin (or whatever fingernails are composed of). They aren't usually splintered, or rough. What the heck?
for those who need a reference:

They can get jagged and have pieces splinter off, just like a fingernail or toenail.
Saying that all spurs look like the one in your photo is akin to saying that all tiddies look like Kate Upton.
Sorry for no tiddie pics. This will have to suffice: ( . ) ( . )

guess I've been lucky with the dozens of roosters I've owned

never had a spur that wasn't clean & sharp. And as I mentioned awhile back, I cut them off with tin snips or cutters when they get long. You can actually pull them completely off with pliers if you want to, but that usually draws a little bit of blood around the base of it. I don't think it really hurts them though.

When I cut the ones on mine, he gave zero shiits. I think the only reason he flinched was from the *snap* of the cutters.
