So by all accounts DJ is showing his true form

He's been very sharp apparently. Accurate. Better footwork. In much better shape. Quicker and able to run better... More like the 5-star QB he was for every year of his HS and freshman seasons. He has a much more comfortable grasp of this offense, he's more humble and mature and becoming more of a leader. I, for one, would love to see him be the QB he's capable of being.

His whites are whiter. His brights are brighter.

We shall see how it goes. Certainly pulling for him. I’m hoping the D and running game can keep the pressure off of him for GT and then two teams that we should be able to handle comfortably, giving him plenty of runway to finalize ironing out his game before the tougher part of the schedule.

At end of interview, they asked him about Clemson this season...he said his son Tyler rooms with DJ, DJ has been looking great and he expects DJ and Clemson to have a great year.

I think it's safe to say that we all would love for him to play at an elite level this year. We'll know in two weeks.

I would love it but, and it's a big butt, the reason we are seeing little overall respect from the talking heads is that we had no qb last year and they don't look for us to have one this year...Tigers don't usually change their spots... so if you think last in the acc and 114 in the nation is going to morph into a winner then you were a big Kelly Bryant fan.

So the transformation between the 2010 and 2011 seasons doesn’t count? More experienced and healthier players to start this season doesn’t count? New coordinators on offense doesn’t factor in? I think you will be very surprised by this year’s offense.

I certainly hope so...my first year on campus I watched us lose to Georgia then auburn then Alabama then Tennessee and we had no qb then...Howard let Charlie waters play a little...Dabo has brought us a long way and I don't want to go back,,,Danny ford was a real taste of fresh air in death valley...some of the posters have never had the taste of a real loser!

There are plenty of reasons we could be optimistic about DJ

this season:
He’s healthy He’s slimmed down His OLine might be improved (by most accounts) His RBs are a proven commodity His receivers are healthier He has young competition that might push him He has had an off-season to evaluate, improve and re-focus There’s no (reasonable) Heisman hype or “heir apparent” type stuff weighing him down His personal life has stabilized (relative to last year) He’s a year more mature and developed Offensive Coordinator is more prepared based on what DJ can do so that he can game plan more effectively to his strengths and limitations
He’s still the guy that performed extremely well in his two starts in 2020. He has talent and skill.
Could he continue to struggle? Yes of course. But optimistic Clemson fans aren’t simply wearing orange colored glasses.

I'm not completely dismissing your point, and I completely understand a "prove it to me" attitude. However, it's not unheard of for quarterbacks to look completely different from year to year. DJ himself looked like our next elite QB in the time he played during his freshman season. He completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 914 years, 5 touchdowns, and 0 INTs. This included 30/41 for 342 yards against BC, and 29/44 for 439 against ND.
I realize he went backwards last year, but he did "change his spots" following his freshman year, and as concerning as last season was he has at least showed he's capable of playing at a high level.
Joe Burrow is someone who didn't look like the same QB from his 1st year at LSU to the next year when he won the Heisman. Granted, he didn't look as bad as DJ during the 1st year but he went from completing 57.8% of his passes for 2,894 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 5 INTs to completing 76.3% for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 6 INTs the following year.

I am with you on I “Hope” we get to see the DJ that we saw in 2020. But so far in camp all that be read and hear are “he’s got a good grasp of the offense” “he’s leaner, quicker, making plays with his feet” “he’s a leader”. One word I have yet to hear form coaches is he’s been more accurate. I have heard that Cade has been very accurate on all his short and intermediate throws and needs to work on his long ball and knowing when to throw it away and that he can’t outrun everyone in this league.
Again I’m pulling for DJ hard and him being successful is Best Case Scenario for Clemson because that allows Klubnik to stay healthy and learn and come out in 2022 as the man. I also don’t think coaches will hesitate to pull him if we see 2020 DJ show up.

I hope you are right. I was not overly encouraged by Streeter’s interview, but I was reading between the lines on what he said. He did state DJ was looking good and was the starter. But then he went on to rave about Cade being better and dynamic in specific areas - rollouts, running game, and scrambles. He was not specific about what areas DJ is better, but it must be overall leadership and maybe arm strength and accuracy? I dunno. Hoping forDJ to light it up but kind of expecting Cade to pass him, and all the drama that brings. It is possible things aren’t clear until NC State or after.

Just read this morning that he still needs to improve his accuracy

So I'm not sure about that one yet. Honestly though, his biggest issue was pocket poise/presence and we won't truly know if that's improved until he gets into a real game and has 275lb DL bearing down on him. They can work on it all they want in practice, but that's something that only truly comes out in live game action.

"By all accounts" is a bunch of baloney

The comments on DJ have been mixed and the praise has been about his intangibles, not his passing. If he can't complete simple 5-10 yards throws for 1st downs, we are back to square one. It was painful watching him at times.
I wan't him to do well but let's be real.
How will everyone react when he sails his first two passes or if he throws an INT in the 1st quarter?
