Is Troy Aikman still slamming DW4 this morning? It

was non-stop last night. Granted Deshaun did not have a great game, but geez Troy give it a rest...we know you aren't a fan. Losing Chubb hurt, coupled with the Brown's WRs unable to catch a cold, AND also TJ Watt camping in their backfield, it was a tough row to hoe.
Still DW4 and the Browns had a chance up until the no-call PI at the end of the game.

Imagine Troy without Emmitt Smith. Oh yeah, you couldn't because nobody would care or remember his sorry butt. Look at his stats, very pedestrian and that is being nice.
Game manager, basically a Trent Dilfer but Troy had superior offensive line, running back, and wide receiver.
Not to mention TJ Watt lived in the backfield the entire game. He wrecked the game plan for Cleveland

Troy was a phenomenal QB, it was a different game back then. Troy is a hall of famer, made the big throws when asked, was an amazing leader. He could’ve carried a team with his arm if asked, that just wasn’t their offense (or most back in the early 90’s). He could’ve played in any era, Dilfer is 100% the worst QB to ever win a SB and would never even win a player of the week award, let alone a gold jacket. I like you DK but you need to take a lap for this take.

I think Redskins QB was worse QB to win SB. FYI also Elway was terrible in SBs until Davis arrived for 2 SB wins. Even Tom Brady never won SB by himself.

I need to take a lot of laps my friend, I understand.
Troy was good QB, but not phenomenal. You said it yourself, a system QB if there ever was one. They played to their strength which was a run blocking line that could dominate any defensive unit in football.

never will win these arguments but i'll make them any way
YOu put Aikmen, Irvin, and Smith on the browns and none of them win a superbowl.
They won on that Oline and a really good defense.

money could buy. If deshaun had his Oline he would be on par with Troy. If Troy had to run every play to get clear passing lane he would've last about a year in the league.

Having a chance to beat them at the end isn't exactly an accomplishment. Watson was given a record deal to go in there and compete for a super bowl, and he, quite frankly, has stunk since he got to Cleveland.

Browns pull it off. With really only 1 decent receiver and a suspect O-line, DW4 has his work cut out for him. With Chubb out they'll have to change their game plan, but do they have the personnel? The Steelers, which are my team, have major issues and it starts with Pickett.

He had 3 TOs and completed less than 60% of his throws. I don't recall Aikman saying anything unfair about him. The plain truth is if you're gonna be paid close to $50M/year you should be a game changer; he has not been that yet for Cleveland.

been caught but instead was a pick 6. They are building, have built, the offense around Chubb. They'll have to make adjustments going forward or find another Chubb.
I somewhat agree with you, BUT Deshaun can't catch his own passes and if it hits you in the hands in the NFL it should be caught. There were numerous drops last night. He has (1) receiver, Amari Cooper, and that is about it. Njoku is a decent TE.

Aikman made a profound statement before Browns last drive

He noted that DW4 had not had a game-winning late drive since 2019. I love DW4 and he was my alltime favorite Clemson player when at Clemson. But I think Deshaun was sidelined for so long, he will never be the qb he was. At that level, I don’t think it’s at all likely that he will ever be “that guy” again. And I am sorry about that.

Steelers are extremely fortunate to get a win, and it took two defensive TD’s and a broken Chubb to do it.
The Steelers have a lot of work to do, starting with one of the worst offenses in the league.

He was 22-40 with 6 sacks and had several penalties called on himself. Granted he got little help. It was an ugly game for both offenses but Aikman was equally hard on Pickett. Aikman is supposed to give his insight, he called it the way he saw it and I agreed with most he was saying. Crazy how some on this board believe every announcer, media individual is out to get everything Clemson...current players, past players, Dabo, it just goes on and on. We are a national brand, take the good with the bad.

There were a bunch of balls thrown out of bounds when he was trying to hit a receiver on the boundary.
Those were not good throws.
and the personal fouls were deserved and unnecessary.
He didn't have a good game but the bad throws are especially worrying.

I wouldn’t pay too much attention to that kind of stuff. With Watson was accused of, unproven allegations by the way, people are going to pile on him for any game the Browns don’t win. Just the nature of the beast.

Agree. I lost all respect for Troy about 3 years ago. He played on a team with lots of talent that he owes much of his success to.
My sets volume is set to low when he is on.

However, I will give you a TU because you are defending DW and are true fan.

fault and somehow getting hit from behind and fumbling is bad qb play. Deshaun is just hated now from the public eye and its easier to pile on. He didn't do himself any favors with the facemask pull down and fight on the side lines. Deshaun isn't doing himself any favors there.

I was annoyed by Joe Buck. He complained the whole game. The Browns seemed to have no WRs besides an ailing Amari Cooper. Not only was there severe defensive pressure, Deshaun got only a few seconds to see all of the non-separation. Then he had few chances to escape. Too bad for Chubb. Everything seemed to go wrong for the Browns, including the iron fingered receivers.
