Hiring Scott Frost is finally Nebraska’s chance to be back

Nov 25, 2017, 1:07 PM

If he doesn’t go there they will never be great for the foreseeable future.

I'm not sure even he is their answer but they have made some horrid recent hires

Those good folks deserve a legend from Huskerland to revive that program, and he is young too. A no brainer.

Nebraska will never be back. The recruiting landscape has changed.

Frost would be much smarter to take the Florida job for his career success.

Now that Nebraska can't literally trot out an army of 150 dudes - seemingly 75 of them enormous cornfed linemen juiced to the eyeballs on steroids, of whom the Huskers then selected the top 8 or so to actually play - it is kinda hard to figure where they go for their next big edge.

There's just no in-state talent pool in Nebraska. Look at 247's composite rankings this year and I see three prospects rated 3 stars or higher (one 4-star, two 3-star guys). In 2017 they had six guys, all 3-stars. In 2016 they had seven prospects...again, all 3-star guys.

You don't make any kind of superpower out of that. Fact is, Nebraska never had the legit local talent base to be as good as they were; they always got their skill talent from out-of-state and then ran it behind that juiced-up herd of elephants. Minus that big - and artificial - edge there's no obvious way back for them.

They can definitely do better than they've been doing though.***

Great explanation of their situation. I remember when I was younger they seemed like an eternal superpower. I never thought I would see them struggle for so long.

Cautious optimism. He'll have to hire a staff that can recruit their tail off to get the athletes he'll need to run the offense.
