Overall record: 408-262
Entrenched at Clemson for the last thirteen years, Brownell has had a successful head coaching career these last few decades. He spent eight seasons assisting Jerry Wainwright at UNC Wilmington before beginning his head coaching career at the school. He’d lead both those Seahawks and Wright State to the Big Dance in brief stints before landing at Clemson in 2010. Brownell’s tenure with the Tigers has included three trips to the Big Dance, including a Sweet Sixteen run in 2018. Last year was a bounce back season, as the Tigers tied for 3rd in the ACC, though they settled for a trip to the NIT.

Wow that's a lot better than I thought it would be.
I guess you have to say he's doing pretty good. Clemson as a basketball program is nowhere near the top 44 all time.

Interesting that the 44th best coach (and that in and of itself might be beneath cootdom to cheer about) but he averages 84th in RPI/NET on the final NCAA team sheet over his 13 seasons. That’s the bottom 1/3 of the conference.

Average RPI/Net finish is 84. So either they didn’t do their homework or Clemson earns him a 40 place handicap.

Morehead State coach Preston Spradlin was ranked #220 in 2021, and #208 in 2022. He obviously did more with less.
