Anybody else have a feeling that this is his last year at Clemson? I believe he will receive a bunch of interest for a head coaching position after another successful year offensively.

I'm hoping OKST gets it turned around.

If not and they let Gundy go , I could easily see Riley land there. Perfect fit ( if he must leave ).

He is making 2 million a yearm, has job security, and he is young. The average salary of D1A head football coach is 2.7 Million. The guy is sitting on a treasure trove of generational talent, the only question being who replaces Klubnick moving forward. I think it would be in his best interest to develop the next great QB at Clemson before he looks elsewhere.

although I would not be surprised if he left either, but it seems a foolish decision to me.

Slow and steady wins the race. If a Power 5 school offers him 4+ million, it would be tempting. But he is a perfect place to sit back and learn how to manage a football program.

If Clemson makes a run in the playoffs and the offensive is clicking, he may have to strike while the iron is hot. Isn't that what Venables did? Worst case for Riley, like Venables, is he gets a shot at running his own program and if it doesn't work, he's made a ton of money and could always return as OC at a hundred places.

I'm not suggesting BV bailed at the first opportunity, but if you look at team defensive rankings, Clemson dropped off over his last 4 years. Now, that drop was from something like 3rd to 15th, so it isn't like his defenses fell off a cliff. But...you do wonder if he thought he had done what he was going to do at Clemson and it was time to take a shot with his own program.

Fwiw, BV made it known a few times that it had to be the right opportunity for him to leave for a HC opportunity.

Outside of that, I mean he did spend a lot of time at two major programs as DC (OK + Clemson) so he did seem like a guy content with his role. Honestly, I thought his alma mater (K-State) would've been an opportunity he might jump at but can't blame him either for jumping at the OU gig. That's a top 10-15 gig historically.

If he really wants to prove himself wait until 2027 after Cade is gone then see if his system can duplicate itself.
If so, then he could command a lot of money for a HC position.

Like Chad Morris. He ended up on the free fall of failure after leaving a good job at Clemson at the first opportunity. Let's see how Riley does this year with developing a powerful offense. Even if the offense is crazy good, he'd be better off staying until a top school come calling.

If Clemson were to have a deep run in CFP, I could see him exploring his options, especially w/ Cade graduating. However, he still might be willing to stick around b/c CV having 2 years eligibility left (assuming player & coach have great relationship) + having bulk of the skill players slated to return for 2026.

Also have to consider the jobs available...I would assume he'd be looking for a job either in Texas or at a place that's got established history of running air raid. And tbh, he might not even want to be a HC...he's had to seen/heard all the criticism Lincoln has taken during his HC tenures at Oklahoma & SoCal. He might be just fine being a playcaller & not have to deal w/ the daily grind of being a HC.

His resume is impressive. Went to the national title game as an OC at TCU. Went to the playoffs last year. If we go back this year, then that would be 3 playoff appearances for him as an OC at two different programs.

True but he hasn't been part of a NC winning team yet. He also may want to see how a program handles itself after coming off a NC win and then winning another whether yta back to back or not. All that's highly possible right where he is.

I like to believe Coach Allen saw the grass was greener at Clemson and isn't going to up and leave one year in. Besides look who he was coaching under....James Franklin. I'd definitely want to stick around Dabo for a long career rather than Franklin who can never seem to win the big games.

Part of the reason for leaving was being closer to family so I'm under the impression he ain't doing another one and done venture unless something drastic happens.

I saw some flashes of a great offense last year, but too much inconsistency. I think it is way too early for him to be head coach material. Would you say last year was a complete season in terms of offense? We had noteworthy struggles in the redzone last year. Most notably against FSU where we went to the zone 6 times and came away with field goals. We struggled in big games too. Overall our offense ranked 69th in redzone production. I don't know if a significant team would want to hand the reins over to him just yet. I am not saying he does not have us going in the right direction, but he has to prove to have Clemson to be great in all facets of the game first and I don't think he has proven that part just yet.
