Recruiting Down Trend?

So, many on here, and national analysts are saying our recent failure to secure top talent in recruiting is going to lead to our team dropping in production. They are saying Dabo is trending downward...
BUT, we have led the country both of the last two years in the number of true freshmen playing in games!!!
So, our recruiting is dropping, but those we are signing are replacing recruits who were higher ranked the previous years? Is there something all these naysayers are missing?
If the new guys coming in are replacing the guys you already have, that seems to indicate that those recruits are better than the ones you have, even though the ones you already have were more highly regarded!

Reading between the lines on the last recruiting class. Yes we were ranked in the low 30's, but that is mainly due to quantity of takes. If you look at the rating quality of the recruits that did sign Clemson is in the top 10. Dabo has some work to do to to have recruiting back where it has been but it's not as dire as some would have you believe.

Sure, this class wasn’t as good as we have come to expect from Dabo, but if there is one thing I’m not concerned about it’s Dabos ability to recruit. That’s a false narrative. Guys like Pate are just hype machines looking to drum up juicy topics to drive ratings and get a reaction out of people. He has no substance - like the seeds cast on stony ground. He’ll dry up and move on to another juicy topic to pound on till that one is dead as well. We just happen to be the target right now because Dabo isn’t following the herd.

Considering it's dead time in football with no spring practices underway and coaching carousels now closed, the Pates of the world have to come up with any material they can to fill the air times they're paid to produce. When there's little to actually report on, whoever can gin up the juiciest topic today wins.

Quality Over Quantity

Clemson under Coach Swinney has always accomplished more with less. Not in a talent sense but in numbers. Clemson is prohibited from over signing classes and many other schools outside of the ACC do over sign classes and rob the recruiting pool. Clemson is the epitome of the slogan, "Seldom Used Reserve" because they rarely offer more than 80 recruits per cycle. Meanwhile, other programs issue well over 300 offers to recruits.
Whenever it boils down to it, Clemson's recruiting rank is based upon a collective composite score whereby quantity counts towards the data. If Clemson recruited 24 recruits and they were all ranked number 1 at their respective position and another school recruits 42 players that are inside the top 250-300, then that school will have a higher recruiting rank based upon a composite score.
Media pundits are just seeking talking points and that's really what this is all about. The rants on here from fans are clueless beings who are either closeted coots or just plain ole uninformed Clemson fans. Hope that helps. GO TIGERS! BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF EVERYONE!

Reporters with their bias will always report negatively about teams they are worried about.

Playing a lot of true freshmen could mean two very different things:
Positive Interpretation: You’ve recruited great talent, and they’re ready to contribute right away.
Negative Interpretation: You don’t have enough depth or experienced players, so you’re forced to rely on true freshmen—often a sign of recruiting struggles or roster gaps.

When taken from recruit ranking perspectives...if you are going through a down trend in recruiting rankings, but you are playing more freshmen, then it pretty much means that the new guys are better than those present...especially if your on field performance is going up! In other words, if the current players were rated higher, but are being replaced with lower rated players, then this is an indictment on the ratings system, which then proves Dabo's worth to the recruiting process (he gets who he thinks will help the team most, regardless of how they are ranked).

Dabo hasn’t recruited at high level in awhile. Last years class was a joke. For some reason he has started taking in more 3 star diamonds in the rough than blue chippers. Not thinking that strategy will bode well for our future. We shall see🤷♂️
