on UGA staff. I wonder if those head coaches bring any skill sets and understanding (and recruiting) to the program?

A close friend of mine is best friends (since childhood) with Kevin Wilson, Ohio State's OC. He said when KW was let go by Indiana that Urban Meyer was one of the first calls he received asking him to come to Ohio State. Bama, Ohio State, UGA, etc are top teams playing and recruiting at high levels annually, common denominator... They all have experienced coaching staffs. The HC's put emphasis on recruiting other top coaches just as much as they do recruiting players.

He does. We all do. He makes some good points. The cracks started to appear several years ago. Even going back to playing lsu. CBV's finest season imo. Osu win was best job and game Dabo should be most proud of. 16 and 18 we had elite and experienced talent. We didn't in 19. We failed at getting or having defensive talent, same as oline but that's always there. BV cobled together a scheme that beats all. Just not quite enough for a star studed lsu roster.
Our recruiting and development on offense, especially WR. HS ratings actually have gone up on the oline, but they darn sure haven't developed. Yeah, I know, you can cite 1 or 2 samples. Mitchell Mayes, Byrns 3 years and still shouldn't break 3 deep on an elite team. Having to move ol out of their natural positions just to get 5 is crap.. just like the article suggests.
Leigh and Linthicum? Sp were 5* instant impact as was Pennington. 2nd year? You'd think at least one would be ready. True, kids develop at different rates, kj Henry. But it can't be your norm. Other coaches have adapted to the new tools and landscape. We're not wake or Duke and wait on junior a nd senior development.

That is an embarrassingly thin list of CV experience. I could understand a guy or two, but that is a lot of collective coaching inexperience. Thankfully, they didn’t list our DC with no coaching experience. That is amazing to type out.

Yup. Got Cole Stout coaching up our offense. No wonder DJ stays in. He's a world beater through those lens.
Tic - but it was there for the taking.

Look at the almost laughable programs at which the experienced ones gained all that valuable experience.
2 yrs. Georgia State
HS and no other college coaching/analyst experience
3 years college coaching experience at Morehead State, 3 years at Jacksonville State as a GA
3 years coaching at D-II West Florida
Many Years ago when I coached in the Pop Warner League, I knew teams that had coaches with more experience than what Clemson now has. And they were not paid a penny. And ran better plays.
Unefffffing believable.

The positive spin to this article is that we may actually be overachieving with our less experienced staff. Tough to be patient but we have 2 games to gain some momentum for 2023.

Dabo likely would never do it. But hiring someone like Garrett Riley, Joe Brady, or Kendal Briles would be a great step in the right direction. And replace Tyler Grisham. E.J. Williams is no where close to the player he was his Freshman season. And Joe Ngata has definitely regressed.

Wow!! Once you stare down this list of coaches it really glares at you. The lack of experience is appalling. Dabo needs to end this grooming experiment but I'm afraid arrogance and pride has blinded him. He reminds me of the nice guy dating a bad girl. Everyone around him can see what's coming except him. And those who try to warn him are brushed off as being jealous or overstepping their boundaries. Just wanting to rob him of his present joy. Pretty soon they realize it useless and leave him alone to learn his lesson.

History has proven this over and over and over. To sustain greatness and win championships you need both. But make no mistake. Coaching is more important than talent.
