Help is on the way

"The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee spent time talking about a possible expansion of the Division I Men’s Basketball Championship during its three-day meeting this week."

Is that cause 68 teams aint enough?

Brad and JK have been asking them to at least double the tournament teams so we have a 50/50 shot at the tournament!

Com’on Let’s go Tigers, it’ll soon be tournament time, automatic coaching bonuses too!

I truly hope they do not expand. I think 68 is to many. I thought 64 was fine. However, I still want the regular season to mean more than just seedings. I like the drama in February and early March with teams still trying to get in. However, money talks and I feel eventually they will add more.

Just my .02.

Men at 25 play football. Men at 40 play tennis. Men at 60 play golf. Have you noticed as men get older their balls get smaller.

Whatever they do I'd like to see seeding go away. Do a random draw for regional brackets much like the world cup draw happens. The selection committee rarely gets seeding correct anyway.

I agree. 64 was perfect and then they had to go screw that up. reward excellence not mediocrity.

The extra ACC games would be broadcast on the RFD channel.

so they are trying to get more fan bases involved.

we would add a LOT of eyes to the equation . . . but alas, being one of the top SIXTY-FOUR teams is REALLY hard . . . .

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Well, over half of the D-1 Championship Subdivision schools go to Bowl games so if that carries over to D-1 basketball, there could be another 100 teams in the tournament.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I can't believe you just typed that...

3

Jul 14, 2023, 9:00 AM

and I'm even more surprised you hit "Post Message".

There are only 4 football teams that can play for a national championship, and those teams play in two predetermined bowl games + the NC game, whereas every NCAA Tournament team could theoretically win it in basketball. A bowl invite is not = to an NCCA Tournament invite.

I say we put every team in the tournament...at the beginning of the season. Let's just get it over with without playing a regular season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Would that make the season go by faster?

4

Jul 14, 2023, 9:14 AM

If so, I vote "Yes".

Theoretically, in this scenario, basketball season could be over before football season. Win/win situation for all.

64 or 68 are both great. I wouldn't like the tourney to be expanded any more than that.

Gotta love that 68 team field otherwise your boy is only 2 of 13 making the tourney.

An NIT and NCAA tourney merger would be a win win for the Fighting Brown-L's.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They will eventually go to 96 teams.

1

Jul 14, 2023, 9:57 AM

Not saying I agree with it but they can go to 96, make more money, and not chnage the current length of the tourney.
