truth be known, he has the greatest coaching job in America. If it were an ad put out for a coach, it would read something like this:
"Coach in the shadow of the Westzone, so just keep ACC wins in low to middle standings, make the NCAA's once in a while, and the NIT most of the time. Work hard, stay clean, run the program the same way, be a pretty good spokesman and great Clemson man. With all this, big bonus and possible lifetime contract if you can ever beat UNC up there. Pay: 2 mil / year."

I know you are being sarcastic but if you compare what you described to our basketball history being consistently above the bottom of the ACC is an achievement. Sure we have done it for short periods but always followed by probation or the coach catching the first train out to greener pastures.

There is no one on this board that thinks the same results from our football team would be acceptable….for years. No one would accept we don’t have a legitimate chance every year for a conference title. No one would accept post season play is more a given every year. No LME would accept it is not fathomable for us to be in the discussion and a viable contender at the start of each season for a national championship. No one would say mediocrity, year after year after year is ok and say such a football coach is good for the program.

Basketball has been a sore spot with me for a few years but I do hope they win out! Never hoped they fail, just for my blood pressure and overall health, I have had to stay away. Watching a Clemson game at Duke or NC aggravates in ways that are hard to explain. Can not get a fair game at either venue in my opinion. Definitely not a Brownell fan even though I defended him for years but not sure who else Clemson could attract with our current support system. Will pull for the Tigers regardless of the sport even though some are harder than others. Baseball in the same boat even though I am optimistic Monte can get things turned around.
