About 30% ofvyhise being deported have “some” criminal record including TRAFFIC offenses.

I would venture to say that 80% to 90% of migrants deported are not “bad guys”. Most are merely caught up in a grossly ineffective visa and asylum system. Most also are productive and law abiding members of the community who contribute to the economy. The cost of this deportation process is not only the direct cost of ICE enforcement but indirect costs to the businesses who employed them and the loss of tax revenue.

Trump’s deportation tactics are a to a much greater degree a matter of choice than necessity.

Biden’s immigration and border policies were awful but that doesn’t justify deportation tactics that impact a broad population of productive and law abiding immigrants. These tactics are at best attempts to achieve numbers for political theater. At worst, they are manifestations of racism.

No issue deporting the bad guys.

unappealing - making "mass deportations" LESS popular. I think it's a warning to immigrants that the welcome mat is no longer out (so don't caravan to the US) - and these current undocumented folks are caught in the middle.

And he failed to appear in court for drug charges 15 years ago.

Had he gone to court, he likely would have received some kind of deferment with treatment and this wouldn't be an issue today.

I'm honestly surprised it was never dealt with earlier and/or didn't have an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.

All of his past crimes and then it woulda been smooth sailing towards citizenship. Taking a bullet for our country isnt nearly as heroic as "standing up to the election thieves" in the eyes of MAGA.

Love how left wing propaganda sites like NPR try to make it sound like the overwhelming number of people being deported don't absolutely 100% deserve it. They throw out these one off scenarios and then the morons rush out to disseminate said propaganda.

The individual is given the choice between leaving on their own schedule prior to a set date or forcibly removed through the legal and law enforcement channels. They're not leaving of their own volition; instead selecting the option that's the least disruptive for their loved ones. Don't get it twisted, this person did not choose to return to a country he last lived in 50 years ago.

Congressman and gotten some support.

According to the article - if you've fought for the US, you basically get to stay. Since it's apparently possible to get a Purple Heart while not technically fighting - that caveat should be added for PH recipients.
