TI is reporting that as a strong possibility? Hard to imagine that but perhaps NIL $$$ would be sufficient to convince him to come back and make a hard push next year to get in the first round. With TD and Bresee coming back plus Page, Ruke, etc at DTs, the edge players might wreck havoc. CFarrell got in the 1st round because of Dexter and Christian. Made himself a lot of $$$.
Stay tuned.........could be HUGE.

On the video gaming as that obviously isn’t impacting his performanc. FWIW - video gaming could also be a big NIL component for him if that is something he is into.

I think the negativity toward it lets you know that there are still a lot of people that think playing video games is something for elementary children to do when the weather is too bad to play outside.
I'm sure many on TNET don't really that gaming has become a multibillion dollar industry and that there are careers and money to be had for people who invest the time to make it a living.
If he were spending his free time doing carpentry or rebuilding engines then he would get a lot less flack for it because people respect those as "real jobs".

Those people need to really look at the true statistics.
The average age of a gamer is actually 34-35....and 26% of the people playing video games in the US are aged between 34 and 54.

he had a good year, but he didn't finish enough. Not many sacks. He has all the physical ability. Really needs to refine his technique

Last year was a throwaway due to Covid. The issue XT faces and will face next year as well IMO is that he is a tweener, maybe OLB in certain D/packages which means he has a low ceiling for the draft - he will have to earn his way whether this year or next.

as pass rushers. XT has the physical tools, but to often overruns a sack, takes a bad angle. He has one speed, wide open. There's a lot more than that involved in being a great edge rusher

And can confirm our defense will be elite if he returns, and slightly less elite if he doesn’t.
Having him rush the passer would take pressure off our young secondary for sure. Would almost guarantee another shut out of the coots as well.

Idk if it will help, it's going to hurt him or KJ, obviously its great for the team. But having to split snaps again will hurt their overall numbers. That would be an interesting decision.

Looking at this from the 'future job prospects' point of view for XT and KJ, it would not necessarily a bad thing if XT came back and split snaps with KJ.
Both KJ and XT would stay fresh and both of their 'big plays per snap' stats would be maximized.
If one of them got banged up / COVID'd for a game or two, then the other could keep the D at an elite level ... which in turn keeps Clemson as a media focus. Media focus on Clemson = more notoriety for both XT and KJ.
The combined production from that D-End position could be insane ... 10 sacks apiece and 15 QB pressures apiece from both XT and KJ. Talk about getting nationwide attention ... whew!
Oh yeah ... if Bresee is fully healthy and T.Davis decides to come back, then as other posters on this thread have noted, lots of inside pressure from the DTs amplifies the sack opportunities for D-Ends.

I would love to see XT come back, but that is just me being selfish. If he can get picked in the top three rounds, he should go.
I know he had a good year and his stats didn't show it, but if he can move up a round or two by staying and secure some good NIL money and take out a good insurance plan, seems like a win win for everyone.
