If Notre Dame would have lost...... Would Notre Dame have deserved to be on the field???? They would have been kissing Cignetti's feet just because he has SEC ties and connections.
So if Notre Dame would have beat an SEC team in the game last night..... would that SEC deserved to be on the field last night???
This is the playoffs........no matter who you are ... you're presented with a task that was awarded to you to advance even further. Its not supposed to be a favoritism contest.....or you get a purple heart just because you're in the SEC or the Big 10.
If Clemson loses .....I can imagine the mud and tomatoes that is going to thrown at them. They might as well get out of the ACC and just do SoCon.

ND dominated IU in the trenches.
The only way ND was going to lose that game was if they turned the ball over 5 times
The way LSU beat Clemson in the National Championship game or the way Clemson beat Alabama in San Francisco are not comparable to what we saw last night

the playoff teams. As it is now each conference will decided the conference champs on the field where the mush is culled by better teams from other pods within each conference.
It's really simple and just plain common sense. Start the playoff as soon as each conference pod team has played everyone in its pod. It ain't rocket science.

Since players are getting paid, set up divisions like the NFL. The winner of each division moves forward. There are no opinions, and there are no crybaby reactions from those who didn't make it.

There will always be a debate about the last team, or now, teams, in the playoff. And that is especially true if the first team (or teams) out are from the SEC or B1G. It is an impossible task to get it perfect, and after the fact opinions and observations are as worthless as the whole best vs. Most deserving debate. Soon enough the rules will be changed to the additional benefit of the SEC and B1G, and after that the SEC and all its sycophants will turn on the B1G for getting too many teams in.
