South Carolina is expected to move its football game against S.C. State to Thursday night ahead of this weekend’s possible impacts from Hurricane Ian, a source with knowledge of the situation told The State on Tuesday.

It’s a good thing football isn’t regulated by any religious denomination.

Prayers. I have family down closer to Sarasota but inland some thank goodness. Still in the surge warning area though. Stay safe, or are you mandatory?

By the time it gets to Clemson is not a hurricane any more. It will be less than a tropical storm more than likely. Does that still count lol?

They can move it to Thursday but today is Tuesday. That will effectively take home field advantage always from Clemson. You will go from 85,000 to maybe 40,000. No matter what happens it all benefits nc state and doesn’t benefit Clemson.

I hope so. I just don’t feel any fan base will be able to do that. To change the game to Thursday gives people today and tomorrow to prepare. Take off from work or whatever they got to do. But I would almost guarantee it would not be full capacity. And it would not be the same as a Saturday night. But I’m all for the safety of everyone. Whatever they decide I will support!

Do you think...

the crowd would be bigger/better on a Thursday night when it's nice and dry or on Saturday night in the midst of what's left of Hurricane Ian?
I'll be there either way !!!

Well since we have proven that the crowd will show up and pack the house in a hurricane (notre dame) my bet is the crowd would be bigger on Saturday in a hurricane.

Not a bad move since its SC State money game. Had it been Furman, we may have done the same.
We won't move ours this week.

I think if the weather was going to hit the GSP area really hard the game would have been moved up even if NC State. Cause of police and other resources used doing that game that would have been needed for weather issue.

, the models that won't instill fear for weather #### are showing it moving further east up the coast.
However, with Jr just having the $$$ game and that city's poor drainage ,moving THEIR game is a good move.

as it makes landfall around Tampa which means the brunt of it may not impact the upstate until sometime Sunday. Hopefully, it keeps tracking eastward and misses us all together.

Having two games both on Saturday could present a problem. Also, USC would have 0% attendance for that game in a hurricane.

Didn’t they move their game the weekend of the ND game on 2015 as well? We still played. Could be wrong but I think that was the case. If not that weekend, I think it happened before. I remember them having to go to LSU one year and they treated them as the home team since game was supposed to be in Columbia.

Yes that is when Columbia had big flood. LSU offered to help playing game at LSU but treating USC as home team. Plus LSU sent help to people of Columbia dealing with the flood.

That was great for USC to move that came up to Thursday. Since USC midstate and SC State closer to coast so the Hurricane winds rains affect them more. Ian wasn't expected to hit UpState. I think if Hurricane Ian was going to really affect Clemson area then AD would got with NC State about moving game up.

I wish Clemson USC game would get moved to Thursday night each season. Thursday games during State Fair is long gone but making it Thursday night would be little old school.
