Profile of a walk-on is a story of determination
Sam Van Gieson has come a long way since former head coach Tommy Bowden laughed at his dream of playing football for Clemson, and hopes that dream may some day take him to the playing field of Death Valley. If it doesn't, then running down the hill and being a part of something special are enough. Full Story » |

If we get up early on someone, this kid definitely deserves a shot to get on the field.
Honestly, we need to chant his name toward the end of a game... even if it's only for an extra point. Get this kid out there!
Go Tigers!

no matter what anyone says, he helped Clemson University, but with that said I wonder if Sam wants to say, "well I am still here and you are not".
That is just the prideful, evil, vindictive side of me though.

barely a speck of athletic ability. And you hung in there with the best college football players in the land for 2 years. And you're gonna walk outta here with a degree from the University of [Clemson]. In this life, you don't have to prove nothin' to nobody but yourself. And after what you've gone through, if you haven't done that by now, it ain't gonna never happen. Now go on back."
Go get em #56, and Go Tigers.

I hope he gets to the field if he is an excellent long snapper.
How important is size and athletism for the long snapper?
A missed snap cost us an extra point against VPI. Dawson Zimmerman miraculously saved the NC State game last year by snagging a wayward snap.
and.... a bad snap cost the Tigers a sure win against Calvin Johnson's Yellow jackets.
I think we would be better off with a 150 pound LS who is money than a 235 speciman who is inconsistent.

This is a story that makes me glad Dabo is the Head Coach and not Tammy Bowden. Tammy was GIVEN a spot at WVU by his Daddy. Dabo earned his at Alabama. That is the difference. Dabo is Tough. Tammy is a puss. A team takes on the characteristics of the Head Coach.
Go Tigers. Beat BC.
