How is FSU's football team looking for this season after such a miserable last season? Are they supposed to be good. I see they open with Bama.

I don’t have an answer but your question made me think about who I would pull for in that game. Typically, I always pull against the SEC but I respect Bama more than FSU. Need to ponder….

It appears they have significantly upgraded the coaching staff, both sides of the ball. But, until the ball is spotted, nobody knows for sure how much the abysmal year of 24 was due to poor talent and how much was due to poor coaching. But everyone agrees it is a combination of both.
Everyone agrees that this year's portal brought in far more talent than last year. Last year Norvell focused on highly recruited HS guys who had not played much at their universities. That proved to be a mistake. There was a good reason they weren't playing - their attitude and effort. This year he went after guys who had demonstrated they were good players at their current schools. (Not great players, but at least significant contributors.)
Two months ago I set the over under at 7.5 and was pretty confident in taking the over. Now, I think it is closer to 50/50 whether or not we get 8 wins.
I wouldn't be shocked if we go 10-2. But, I aslo wouldn't be shocked if we go 4-8. (We have two cupcakes on the schedule, so 4-8 is really 2-8.
No way do we have the talent of Clemson. We may be closer in talent to Bama, UF and Miami (they have a lot of questions as well).
My bottom line on this season if FSU wins 9 or more games it will be because Norvell hit a home run in hiring the new coaching staff. (He not only brought in new coordinators, but both those coordinators brought other coaches with them.)
If Norvell goes 6-6 or 7-5 he probably won't get fired, but his seat will be scorching in 2026. If he goes 8-4 the administration will breathe easier, but many of the fans will still be upset. I'm no longer confident about 8-4, but I am hopeful.
So, back to my original answer. Nobody knows.

They will be playing FSU with a highly recruited but completely unproven QB. Some Bama fans havew already given up on Deboer. If I were a betting man, which I am not, I wouldn't even think about betting on this game.
If you forced me to make a prediction I would say Bama will win and FSU will cover.
However, after the debacle of last year I fear that Bama could win by 20.
I am far more confident that Clemson will beat LSU than I am making any prediction of any kind on the FSU/Bama game.
Sorry, you were probably expecting something more definitive.
