I know this is my first post on Tigernet, and I haven't been on here that long, but I have been a die-hard Clemson fan my entire life. I understand there are a lot of fans that are upset, but we have seen darker days than we did last night, whether we want to admit it or not. I know we were all expecting a different result due to the new OC hire and the optimism the staff had in their pre-season pressers. But I think everyone calling for Dabo to walk the plank after he has gotten us to the top of the mountain twice, is a little absurd. Yes, he is stuck in his ways at times. He doesn't use the TP. We don't develop players well. He has had questionable hires recently. I definitely think we need to go our separate ways from a few guys on the staff. But the man loves to win. He is 161-40 as our coach with 2 national titles and 8 ACC championships. In saying this, I think if we have an underachieving season this year, that he will do everything in his power to ensure that our program continues to be successful. Whether that be hiring an entire new staff, getting players from the portal, etc. He does indeed know when things need to change because they are not working anymore (Napier, Steele, Streeter, etc.). I just think the overall hate is over-the-top. We've been here before after the West Virginia game, and Dabo did what was necessary to ensure future success. Down years are normal. So, I think everyone should put the torches and pitchforks down and have a little more faith in the guy who took us from a middle of the pack program, to one of the biggest brands in the country. And if we become mediocre again, I will happily accept the fact that I was wrong.

I know I may anger some people who are still heated about last night, but I felt it needed to be said.

I think most of the hate comes from him constantly denying theres anything wrong with what he does

He’d rather lose doing it his way than adapt and win. Which is directly contrary to some of what he preaches day in and day out.

Not to mention his arrogance in thinking that unqualified coaches will be just fine in his program since he’s known them a long time.

I agree that his post-game pressers have become increasingly tough to watch. He's always blowing smoke and beating around the bush. But I do think he will finally realize that he is getting caught behind the times and I have faith in him to make the necessary changes.

I do think Dabo needs to tap into his '08-'09 humility a bit, but I also think us fans should give him a little grace and have faith that he will do what's best for the program and future success.

If not, the situation will pan out how it is supposed to.

While I don't disagree with the sentiment... for some of us this is year three of noticing that things are going downhill.

Year three of, ignore what your eyes are telling you, you're crazy, you're an ingrate, the coaches know better, they'll get it fixed etc etc....

We all know Dabo CAN be a championship coach, we've watched it in real time. But he's running the program differently than when he first got here (with his coaching hires and how he is handling SOME players... most notably DJ) and the question is why?

Riley was a good (and shocking) hire... and he got commended even from a lot of the people who are typically negative. But last night, even if it's an anomaly, hit all the wrong notes and fears with the fanbase. Offense looked largely the same, screens and passes behind the LOS, WR drops, not throwing deep, o-line not really protecting etc.... that, perhaps just as much as the actual outcome is driving a lot of the intensity of the response. The worry that nothing has changed from the past few years, even with a new OC.

I agree. I do recognize that there are OBVIOUS things that need to change. But I was just calling for us to support the man, because I think he will eventually look in the mirror and realize that he can do better. Regardless of what people think, he has always put the interests of the program as a whole first. It is a hard thing to do, to be questioned about every minute detail of your job. So, I just think he deserves a little grace. I have complete faith that he will make the necessary changes when things get rough, but for us to just turn on him and our players would just make this whole situation worse and the season miserable for everyone. Like I said in another reply, I completely understand the frustrations of the fanbase, because I share them. But he is the best coach Clemson has every had for a reason. And if he has indeed lost his edge and fire to win and won't make necessary changes, then things will be dealt with. In the meantime, we have 11 more games to play, so let's show up to the games and be loud and support our guys.

I understand and respect your opinion. Yes, we are all emotionally charged from last night and want to see something done to right the ship.

The problem is, will Dabo do anything? It took a horrible game vs coots and an embarrassing loss to UT for him to fire Streeter and DJ transferred. But after last night, clearly Streeter and DJ were not the only problems, if they even were.
This slide has been going on for 3 plus years. When questioned about concerns or issues with team, Dabo is very defensive, like how dare you criticize me….

The man is making over $10 mil/year. He has taken Clemson to the Football Promised Land and now no one at Clemson can touch him. He’s hired friends and family, whether they’re qualified or not, setting them up for life. I honestly believe that he is not driven to win like he was. He’s older, knows he’s set, and has built his program the way he wants it. If the team wins great, if they win a championship, great, but he’s more driven now by building and promoting good Christian men. He’s totally against what college football has become and will not adapt to it. If he refuses to make necessary changes, he will take Clemson down like he built it up.

You may be right, but I am really hoping that you are wrong. As are all Tiger fans I would suspect. I think the "building great men" is one of the many things that makes Dabo special and great for Clemson. I think he still has plenty of fire left in him. As far as taking Clemson down with him, one of the great things about Clemson is that the fans money and donations talk. Possibly more than anywhere else in the country. So, I think he would be gone before the ship sank. I understand the frustration and I am right there with you. But I do think he still has that fire, and I think he will show us all again why he is one of the best to do it. But all we can do for now is support our program and players, and sit back and try to enjoy this years ride!

and your calm & wisdom is accepted for sure and as you say give Coach some space to contemplate the needed changes of which many he’s aware of more than he should acknowledge, to us for sure.

Dabo will do what’s expedient now, like player personnel changes, play-calling, practice methods & going back to fundamentals as well as keeping the Team focused & up.

Then, I believe we will see staff changes and get some portal/transfer players.

Hang in there since as you stated JOE, Coach doesn’t like to lose, whether he’s rich or poor!

Go TiGERS..The ROCK got chipped a little by Duke but there’s a lot left to guard!

Joe, first of all welcome and glad to have you on board. Second, Dabo did have his WVA moment and reacted as we expected he would. Whether or not he has the same fire and passion to react to his Duke moment, only time will tell. He certainly is a changed man between those 2 points, some for the better and maybe some not.

I hope he "brings his own guts" and this really is the final wake up call needed. We can't keep hitting the snooze button and expecting a different result.

Problem is, I don't think Dabo is the same person. Success

and money has changed him, and he does not seem to recognize it. He needs to take a deep long look in the mirror.
